Keith and Gwen Thompson are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020. They both grew up and met in Price, Utah. They moved to Gardnerville two years ago from Kamiah, Idaho.

They have four daughters (Tamara, Tovia, Tracy & Jennifer) eight grand-children and seven great-grandchildren.

They've had 70 wonderful years together and continue to enjoy life!

Gov. Steve Sisolak on Tuesday ordered a sweeping shutdown of nonessential businesses, including casinos and retail stores, for 30 days, a move that would have been unthinkable weeks ago before the novel coronavirus wreaked its havoc around the world.

Carson City outlines department closures, services available in response to coronavirus threat

Carson City officials are continuously monitoring the level of risk of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) to the community. In close coordination with Carson City Health and Human Services, the City Manager’s Office along with City departments in an abundance of caution are coordinating the closure of some offices to take additional measures to slow the spread of respiratory viruses. Famed country rock band at Silver City, early Carson City history, live comedy and more this weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Nevada Artists Association New Year’s Show, and there’s a historical Curry family presentation at the Nevada State Museum. Famed country rock band I See Hawks in L.A. perform at the Historic Silver City Schoolhouse on Saturday. Combined with live music at Bella Vita Bistro, there’s plenty to do and see around the state capitol. Read on for more.

Dayton Wedding Faire this Sunday at Mark Twain Community Center

Travel Nevada names Lake Tahoe man as new international market manager

CARSON CITY — Juraj “George” Sojka of Stateline, Nev., has joined the Nevada Division of Tourism, also known as Travel Nevada, as its new international market manager. Sojka will oversee Travel Nevada’s efforts in Europe and the United Kingdom. He brings about 10 years of sales, marketing and management experience to the position.

Douglas County Historical Society Lecture Series, 'The Wedding of the Waters'

A 45 minute history presentation on what was perhaps the largest single event ever held in the Eastern Sierra, the 1937 celebration titled, The Wedding of the Waters. The three day affair was created, organized and executed by Catholic priest Father John Crowley.

Lockes Celebrate 50 years

Louis and Peggy Locke, Founding Pastors of Fountainhead Foursquare Church in Carson City, Nevada, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25th. Peggy also serves as Staff Chaplain for Carson Tahoe Health in Carson City. The Lockes took a ‘land and sea’ cruise of Alaska in July and continue to celebrate their special event by camping and being together with their family. Louis and Peggy have 4 sons, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Obituary for Gil Linsley

Rev. Dr. Gil Linsley was born in 1928 in Alhambra, California. He passed peacefully and aware into the next plane of existence on July 1, 2019 at South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

During his lifetime he had a successful career as a jazz trumpet player, water ski school owner and instructor, and Science of Mind minister. He had a love of water skiing which developed upon his move to Lake Tahoe in 1960 to play trumpet in the house bands at the casinos.
