Fresh off a secret wedding last month to a New York City police officer, country music singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert has hooked up a July 18 gig at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena, Harveys announced today.

Erik Holland has worked as an artist his entire adult life. He started painting murals in Fairbanks, Alaska in the 1990's. He then moved to Reno, Nevada, achieving his dream of living in the high desert. He has had a one man show in Reno every year since 2001.

Northern Cal/Neva residents Bonnie Porter and David Kotzebue, both disabled veterans, recently announced their intentions to marry. Ms. Porter and Mr. Kotzebue both have service-related disabilities, so their nuptials are planned for Veterans' Day.

The Nevada Commission on Tourism on Monday approved more than $1 million in grant funding to rural communities to promote tourism through marketing projects. Among the Carson City area programs funded through the marketing grants:

Jack Phillips, a Colorado Christian cake artist, was known for his custom-designed masterpieces. In 2012, two men asked him to prepare a special cake for a local celebration of their upcoming Massachusetts marriage. At the time, Colorado law did not allow same-sex marriage.

Phillips politely declined, saying his religious faith didn’t allow him to participate expressly via his art in celebrating their marriage. He offered to sell them any product he made, but he wouldn’t prepare one specifically endorsing a gay union (nor Halloween, alcohol or nudity).

Dancing is as much a form of human communication and intimacy as it is art, said professional dance instructor Tiffany Alm, who owns Yaples Ballroom in downtown Carson City.

The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will feature pianist Alexander Tutunov on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater. Dr. Tutunov will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3.

The Amazing Spider-Man, a recent sensation with his daytime public appearances in Carson City this year, has apparently been making his rounds in the Nevada state capital for longer than that.

One of the first things Johanna Foster did when moving back to Carson City to take care of her mother after retiring as an ecology professor in the Midwest was to join Muscle Powered, the advocacy group to create a more walkable and bikeable community.

HOMEWOOD, Calif. — If you’ve seen the classic Francis Ford Coppola film The Godfather II then you’ll recognize Lake Tahoe’s Fleur du Lac Estates as the lakeside backdrop for mobster Michael Corleone’s bash held in honor of his son’s first communion in the beginning of The Godfather Part II. It was also the spot where his older brother Fredo was killed.

Achievements in preserving Lake Tahoe were celebrated Tuesday during the 21st Lake Tahoe Summit at Tallac Historic Site, but it was clear there is a lot more to do and the work will never be over.

Recently, James went to Portland, Oregon for a concert and to celebrate his 17th wedding anniversary with his lovely wife, Vicki.

One of the first things he noticed driving around the area was the traffic nightmare. After one miserable attempt to drive eight miles in an hour, it was time to put the car away and rely on public transportation. It was clean, on schedule, and very reasonable at five dollars per person for unlimited rides.
