Sierra Lutheran is inviting area veterans to attend a special Veterans Day assembly at the school on Wednesday, November 7, from 9:30 - 10:00 a.m., as part of its annual “Remembering And Honoring Our Heroes.”

The focus of the commemorative ceremony will be to educate students and interested community members on the history of Veterans Day, while also taking time to salute veterans in attendance.

Dayton chamber to host Nov. 11 Veterans Day dinner

In honor of veterans, the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its second annual community appreciation dinner on Sunday, Nov. 11 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center.

Northern Nevada Honors Inaugural National Vietnam War Veterans Day

On Saturday, northern Nevadans honored the inaugural National Vietnam War Veterans day through two ceremonies, one in Carson City at Mills Park and the other in Winnemucca.

Battle Born Harley Davidson is throwing an appreciation party complete with food trucks. UPDATE 2:24PM: From the Nevada Highway Patrol: Seven juveniles were involved in Thursday's crash in west Carson City on Kings Canyon Road. Five were not wearing seat belts, two were ejected. Two are suffering life threatening injuries, and 3 are in critical condition.

UPDATE 12:09 PM: A Carson High School student and friend of the seven Carson City teens injured in a rollover accident has created a GoFundMe account to help with medical expenses. The conditions of the seven injured have not been released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE 1:10AM: Seven teenagers were injured, some critically, in a single vehicle rollover crash that happened late Thursday night on Kings Canyon Road, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. The injuries involved high school-aged students.

The accident was reported at 10:46 p.m. and involved an SUV, said Furlong. It happened around a quarter mile west of the intersection of Kings Canyon and Longview. Injuries range from moderate to severe, said Furlong.

Kings Canyon Road was reopened later this morning.

Those injured were taken by either air ambulance or ground ambulance to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno and Carson Tahoe Hospital, said Furlong.

There is no school on Friday in recognition of Veterans Day.

Carson City Senior Center celebrates Veterans Day

The Carson City Senior Center presented a salute to Carson City veterans Thursday. The program featured Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell and members of the Carson High School JROTC representing each branch of the United States Military.

Carson Middle School lawn filled with student Veterans Day displays

Carson City schools are hosting a number of Veterans Day events Thursday to recognize and honor military men and women including display projects on the lawn at Carson Middle School. Veterans from all branches of military service are invited to view, or attend any of these events including local students and their families.

Brigadier General Zachary Doser has been chosen to serve as Deputy Grand Marshal in the November 11th event honoring veterans and those currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

This Veterans Day, RISE Carson City, Carson City’s first medical cannabis dispensary, is giving back in a big way. 10% of all sales this Friday, November 11th will be donated to Northern Nevada Veteran’s Resource Center.

Christmas tree cutting permits for Lake Tahoe Basin available beginning Monday

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will offer Christmas tree cutting permits beginning Monday, Nov. 7, 2016. Permits are $10 each with a limit of two permits per family.

Car wash fundraiser Friday to honor veterans

A car wash is being held Friday afternoon in southeast Carson City to help a Redding, California youth ensure that unattended veterans' graves receive the honor and love they deserve.
