The Greenhouse Project is proud to announce the first MaskurAid Ball, taking place Jan. 4, 2021 in an event where masks are mandatory and costumes are optional.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. A Thanksgiving Turkey Drop for families in need will be held Friday at Max Casino. The holiday movie premieres of “Feliz NaviDAD” and “Once Upon A Main Street” on Saturday will feature different venues in Carson City. The Carson City Senior Center and Meals on Wheels Carson City is proud to announce that it will be participating in the 2020 Subaru Share the Love Event as a member of Meals on Wheels America — one of four national Share the Love charitable partners supported through the campaign.

CARSON CITY — Employment in Nevada increased over the month by 3,600 jobs as the state continues to recover. Jobs still remain below typical levels, down by 117,200 compared to October 2019, for an annual rate of -8.2 percent according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s October 2020 economic report.

The Carson City School District, on behalf of the Carson City Schools Foundation, is pleased to announce mini and department grant winners for Fall 2020. Each semester, CCSF gives back to educators and students alike. This last semester, the foundation awarded $200 mini-grants as well as up to $2,000 grants for a department, school or grade-level projects.

Prof. Lokken's presentation will include a comprehensive review of this month's election results, as well as an in-depth analysis of what those results might imply for 2022 legislative races, as well as those for the House of Representatives, United States Senate, and state constitutional offices.

Lyon County School District has come away with four of the Nevada Association of School Boards 2020 Awards. Josh Wiley, rock-star teacher at Silver Stage Middle School, is recognized as the Innovative Educator of the Year.

The Capital City Arts Initiative and Western Nevada College present "Metallum Terrae" an exhibition by Kyle Karrasch in the college’s Bristlecone Gallery, 2201 W College Parkway, Carson City now through Dec. 17, 2020. The gallery is open to the public, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Join us in celebrating Veterans Day 2020. Due to most Veterans Day parades and other celebrations being cancelled this November because of COVID-19, Nevada Department of Veterans Services produced a video with support from the Nevada veterans and community leaders across the state highlighting what Veterans Day means to them, along with the following anniversaries:

— The 75th anniversary of the end of WWII;
— The 70th anniversary of the outbreak of Korean War;
— The 67th anniversary of the alliance between U.S.A. and the Republic of Korea; and
— The 30th Anniversary of the outbreak of the 1st Gulf War.

Historic Virginia City has always placed a strong emphasis on supporting those who have served our country. A walk down the wooden board sidewalks demonstrates this in the many memorial flags of those who gave their lives in service. Because honoring our veterans is so important, Virginia City will be holding a Veterans Day Cruise today, Wednesday, Nov. 11 beginning at 11 a.m. on C Street.

Governor Steve Sisolak announced Tuesday the appointment of J. Brin Gibson to the Gaming Control Board and designated him to serve as the new chair and executive director.

For the second year, the Ron Wood Family Resource Center in Carson City has received a generous donation of more than 2,700 pair of Bombas socks to give to those in need around the community.

Mr. Victor Garcia-Mendez, an English Second Language paraprofessional at Mark Twain Elementary School in Carson City, was one of only two school employees nominated by Gov. Steve Sisolak to represent Nevada in the national selection process for the Recognizing Inspirational School Employees Award.

CARSON CITY — Eagle Valley Middle School went "dough to dough" in the Parent Teacher Organization’s annual cookie dough fundraiser. In total, the gross sales were equivalent to more than $15,597. The school earned about 70 percent of total gross sales, bringing the net total to $11,034. A total of 888 units were sold.
