Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

We're heading into the midweek, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 with sunny skies and activities throughout the day including day 2 of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center, Jazz and Beyond festival performances to complement Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC followed by a classic outdoor movie to boot, "West Side Story." There's also a free creative event: "Community Art Card, Creating Social Circle" at Comma Coffee, Salsa dancing and more. Enjoy the day.

Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. Heading into the midweek, Wednesday, August 14, 2019 activities abound around the capital city. There's a new group for writers that meets at the Brewery Arts Center; a salary negotiation workshop at WNC, a chautauqua and author presentations at Dangberg Historic Park. There's also the Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival that will feature the Wesley Orsolic Trio during Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC, with jams to continue at Living the Good Life; there's also a real estate workshop for veterans, art showings, salsa dancing and more. An Open Studio Art event featuring Moongirl Studio will be presented by Mile High Jazz Band Association as part of the 2019 Jazz & Beyond Festival, and is supported by grants from the Carson City Cultural Commission, The Nevada Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts, and private donations.

Heading into Tuesday, August 13, there's a galaxy of events lined up, beginning at midnight with a meteor shower watch party at WNC's Jack C. Davis Observatory. When the sun arrives there's fitness events, a book talk at the Nevada State Library and Archives, outdoor Carson City jazz festival happenings at Comma Coffee and Bob McFadden Plaza, family movie night at the library and more. If you missed them, there will be a viewing party hosted by Carson City Parks and Rec at the Jack C. Davis Observatory at WNC beginning at midnight Tuesday morning, August 13. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by, including the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival, Carson City Library’s End of Summer Learning Challenge, history talks at Mormon Station Park, train rides in Virginia City, a sushi cooking class at Sierra Chef on Sunday and more!

The 16th Annual Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music and Art Festival kicks off Friday at Bliss Mansion, 608 Elizabeth Street from 4 to 6 p.m., and continues that evening at the Governor’s Mansion, directly across Mountain Street. The free event includes live music, art, food, and tours of the Bliss Mansion.

Heading into the middle of the work week, we're looking at partly cloudy skies, a chance of thunderstorms and a bevy of happenings around the Carson City area. On tap Wednesday, August 7, 2019 there's Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center, art showings, a class in acrylic pour jewelry making at Rustically Divine, salsa dancing and more. A fashion show sponsored by DV8 Salon Studio to benefit Pets Of The Homeless will be presented at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Saturday, August 17 at 1:30 p.m. Trendy and unique fashions will be featured by Stein Mart with hair and make up being done by DV8 Salon studio, with guest makeup artist Regina Wolford from “Wake up with Make up.”

Heading into Tuesday Aug. 6, which means the safest family celebration of the year at the 17th annual Carson City National Night Out. This is an event like no other, where agencies who work in areas of public health and safety gather at Mills Park to meet with Carson City residents. This event features 3 hours of information booths, games, demonstrations, food and fun. Also happening Tuesday is a free robotics mini-camp for kids in nearby Silver City, Reciprocity Inc. will host a fundraiser at Rustically Divine, there's the Culinary Traveler’s Club's Polynesian Paradise featured at Bleu Café; the Carson City Classic Cinema Club will feature a Sci-Fi favorite at the BAC, plus fitness outings and more. UPDATE: There's a star party late Monday night into Tuesday morning hosted by Carson City Parks and Recreation and Open Space. For summer’s most visible meteor showers, join the Carson City Parks, Rec and Open Space Department at Western Nevada College’s Jack C. Davis Observatory for some late night, educational fun. No pre-registration necessary. Please wear close-toed shoes and bring water for night hiking from the Observatory. Head lamps and flashlights are allowed. The Levitt AMP Carson City summer concert series continues this Saturday, July 27 with two headliners sure to light up the night at the Change Company stage, bringing with them all the flavors of pop, funk and plenty of soul.
