Crews battle brush fire near Stagecoach; Carson City Fire Department knocks down small fire near Walmart

UPDATE 7:10PM From Lyon County Manager Jeff Page: The fire burning in Lyon County near Stagecoach is approximately 400 acres. No structure were threatened and no injuries reported. The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE 5:57PM: The Bureau of Land Management has taken over incident command of the fire near Stagecoach in Lyon County that started Sunday afternoon, according to emergency scanner traffic. As of last report, the fire was between 400 to 500 acres. KOLO reports the fire is 20 to 25 percent contained.

UPDATE 4:55PM: A wildfire that started Sunday afternoon in the Stagecoach area has burned between 400 to 500 acres as of late Sunday afternoon, said Lyon County Manager Jeff Page. No structures are threatened at this time, according to the Central Lyon County Fire Protection District. Nevada Division of Forestry crews are on scene with help from Storey County. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation.

Carson City arrests: Man attempting to escape officer, jailed for burglary and home invasion

A 24-year-old man was arrested in the 1500 block of East William Street for suspicion of home invasion, attempted burglary, battery on an officer and other charges, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.

Residents evacuated from structure fire at Pheasant Drive and Mockingbird Way

UPDATE: 12:20 a.m. Sunday. The fire appears to be out. No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

UPDATE 11:00 p.m.: Central Lyon County fire has also arrived to offer assistance to the Carson City Fire Department. Red Cross has been advised due to the displacement of residents.

A fire broke out just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday night near the 3900 block of Pheasant Drive and Mockingbird Way.

According to dispatch, the fire is a structure fire involving a 4-plex. There is heavy smoke in the area, and it is unclear at this point how many units are affected.

Deputies arrest man for securing a door with a dog leash, driving into stranger's yard

A 25-year-old man was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies in the 1700 block of Stewart Street Thursday evening for DUI drugs, failure to maintain a lane, driving without a driver’s license in possession, driving without a front plate, and driving with an unsecured load.

SET deputies observed a vehicle exiting a parking lot on Winnie Lane and observed it was driving without a front license plate. They also observed there was a full rear lift gate for a Ford Explorer on the roof the car, strapped on top of the roof with a thin dog-leash, which was insufficient to hold the weight of the door.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called early Wednesday afternoon to the 4000 block of East Nye Lane for a report of smoke inside the attic of a residence.

Carson City firefighters knock down blaze at Adele's restaurant

UPDATE 7:18AM: Carson City Fire Department knocked down a fire at Cafe at Adele's early Thursday morning. The fire caused damage to a storage room located in the back of the restaurant. No one was at the restaurant at the time and there were no injuries, said Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon. The cause is under investigation.

A fire has been reported at Cafe at Adele's on North Carson Street. The fire was reported at 5:19 a.m. by a security guard working for another company who passed by the restaurant and saw smoke. Firefighters are on the scene.

The fire was in the rear of the building, and chef/owner Charlie Abowd said it appears to have started in the laundry storage area. The building was built in 1864, and the restaurant has been in the Abowd family for 41 years.
