What Works: Take Three Steps and Stand Up to Fear
Submitted by editor on Mon, 03/09/2015 - 11:16amI speak a lot about fear and how it can hold you back. This morning, I want to flip it a bit. Because, when you Face Everything and Rise, fear can actually be a good thing. First of all, your body is incapable of lying. Butterflies in the stomach, headaches, even body pains can tell you when something is going on.
These bodily responses can be used like a GPS though, to tell you what’s really going on inside you. It can tell you when fear is approaching. I challenge you, at least once this week, to stand your ground.

Hikes are where you find them, sometimes at the top of a ski lift
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 08/26/2011 - 11:07amMost experienced Carson City hikers would probably never consider starting a trip from the beginning of the Heavenly Mountain Resort's Gondola lift in South Lake Tahoe. It's not the most challenging trek around Carson City — you can always do Prison Hill from the river side or the city side and have a good view of Carson City and Slide Mountain. Or dead Man's Creek at Washoe Lake.
