National Night Out, one of Carson City’s largest summer celebrations, is returning Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mills Park for its 17th year. And by all indications, it will be the biggest yet.

Agencies such as Search and Rescue, Health and Human Services, Care Flight, Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Carson City Fire Department, Nevada Highway Patrol, Department of Wildlife, agency advocates and dozens more.

Carson City Sheriff: Suspect dead, infant rescued in standoff

A suspect who was in a standoff for several hours with law enforcement on Saturday is dead and an infant that was being held hostage is safe, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

On Monday evening, Carson City deputies responded to a report of a robbery at a Wells Fargo ATM located in the 2400 block of South Carson Street.

Several media outlets have reported the purple-clad bandits made off with $200,000 in cash, which had been confirmed by Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Lost dog finds its way to Carson City Sheriff's Office

This friendly dog was found wandering late Thursday morning outside of the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Harbin and Musser streets. He is friendly, obedient, fairly young, may have some pit bull mix in him, with a brown and black coat, white chest and white feet.

Carson City deputies investigate robbery at Wells Fargo ATM, release surveillance video

UPDATE 8:23PM: The Carson City Sheriff's Office has released surveillance of the strong arm robbery on Monday evening at Wells Fargo on South Carson Street. See the footage here and here. There are 3 suspects, described as possibly black males, wearing purple hoodies, according to a Carson City sheriff's detective.

UPDATE 7:28PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said detectives are preparing to review video surveillance of the strong arm robbery at a South Carson Street ATM. It is believed more than one person was involved. The victim was not injured. Surrounding law enforcement agencies have been notified.

UPDATE 10:30 p.m.: The package was empty and the Sheriff’s Office has cleared the scene. The park will be reopened during regular hours.

The Lake Tahoe Bomb Squad was called to Carson City’s Sonoma Park Saturday evening on reports of a suspicious package found, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

As of 8:30 p.m. the bomb squad was on route to the park, which has been closed. Residents are being asked to keep away from the park for safety reasons.
