The Carson City Sheriff's Office was alerted late Tuesday morning to an explosive device that was left at the administration building by a person who wanted to dispose it. The device was carried outside by Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies crack burglary case with two arrests

Stephanie Baumgardner and Leonard Martinez, both of Carson City, were taken into custody by Carson City Sheriff's deputies and detectives while investigating the burglary of a disabled resident on Beverly Drive.
Douglas County Sheriff's Office seeks help locating missing South Carson City man
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Fri, 02/22/2019 - 11:47amOn Friday, February 15, 2019, a missing person was reported to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The missing person is Rudy Martinez, 35 years of age, approximately five feet, eight inches tall and 161 pounds.
Rudy was last seen leaving his home on Mica Drive on February 08, 2019 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Rudy left on foot, and did not take his wallet or cell phone.
Rudy is new to the area, and it is unknown where he might have gone. Due to the recent weather conditions, there is concern for Rudy’s welfare.
Carson City swears in four new deputies, number of officers equal to pre-recession says Sheriff

Sheriff Ken Furlong said during the ceremony the number of sworn officers are now up to pre-recession 2010 levels.

Inmate resuscitated after attempted hanging at Carson City Jail

The inmate was transported breathing but unconscious, Furlong said.
