CARSON CITY — Every week at DeBug Computer, we receive reports from community members who have been scammed into giving money to both cyber and telemarketing frauds, some for thousands of dollars, sometimes under the pretense that the victim has “won” a prize or money, and simply needs to pay a processing fee. 45 Carson High School seniors earn National Workplace Readiness certificates

CARSON CITY — Forty-five Carson High School seniors have earned the nationally recognized National Career Readiness Certificate. The assessment is designed to measure students’ career readiness as they prepare to enter the workforce by assessing their abilities in three core areas: applied mathematics, locating information and reading for information.

Military veterans and seniors to take flight in WWII biplane: Public invited to attend and watch Dream Flights

Pre-selected military veterans and seniors will enjoy the thrill of a Dream Flight in a 1944 Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train military aviators during World War II. The flights are courtesy of Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF), a Carson City-based nonprofit that honors U.S. military veterans nationwide with free Dream Flights. AADF has given more than 3,700 Dream Flights nationwide since 2011.

Carson City area students honored as Future Educators at Nevada Governor’s Mansion

CARSON CITY — Thirty-four juniors and seniors from Carson High School were honored at Nevada Governor’s Mansion last Tuesday evening for their efforts in a university level introductory education course. In partnership with the College of Education at the University of Nevada - Reno, CHS offers the EDU 110 course for students interested in pursuing a teaching career.

University of Nevada graduates largest class to date

The University of Nevada, Reno through the weekend will be conferring 3,201 degrees, the most degrees ever distributed in one semester.

Due to inclement weather, all ceremonies were moved to the Lawlor Events Center instead of the University’s quad.

Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation's fleet is expanding.

CARSON CITY – Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF), a Carson City-based nonprofit that honors U.S. military veterans with free Dream Flights, is adding a re-stored 1943 Stearman biplane to its fleet, thanks to the fundraising efforts of a local community in Wisconsin.

Guests will experience a 24-mile round-trip ride through the historic Comstock, departing Carson City (Eastgate Depot) at 10 a.m. and will arrive in Virginia City at approximately 11:30 a.m., before returning to Carson at 4:15 p.m.
