NHP identifies Reno man who died in Spanish Springs motorcycle crash

24-Hour Agony Ride Fundraiser to Benefit At-Risk Youth This Friday
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 07/21/2019 - 5:06pmChristian Encounter Ranch of Grass Valley, Calif., will hold its annual Agony Ride Fundraiser this Friday and Saturday, July 26th and 27th, in the Sierra Valley (about 1 hour northwest of Carson City off of Highway 70). During the event, cyclists commit to riding their bicycles as far as they can in 24 hours and are sponsored on a per-mile or flat rate basis.
Local rider Christopher Palmer, of Washoe Valley, will be riding for the 7th time this year. To date, he's ridden a total 1910 miles and raised more than $17,000 for the ministry.

Carson City emergency crews, Care Flight called to Highway 50 East motorcycle crash
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 07/10/2019 - 4:32pmUPDATE 5:21PM: A motorcycle rider injured in a crash late Wednesday afternoon on Highway 50 East has been flown to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. Their condition is unknown at this time. The cause of the crash is under investigation. The road was closed briefly to allow for the helicopter to land.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Wednesday afternoon to a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the area of Highway 50 East.
Capital City Arts Initiative presents 'Fast Lane, Slow Bake' exhibition

The exhibition runs now to Oct. 24, 2019. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Friday, July 12, 5-7 p.m. in the Sierra Room, and the artists will give a brief talk about their work at 5:30 p.m.

Carson City BMX Race for Life set for July 21
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 07/07/2019 - 8:47amCarson City BMX will host the annual Race for Life on Sunday, July 21. USABMX started this race and fundraising effort to honor Todd Kingsbury, a young BMX rider who fought and lost his fight with leukemia.
This race raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Additionally, keeping with Todd’s love for BMX, promoting this race where you do not have to be a USABMX member. So please join us on 21 July, with signups 9 to 10 a.m.. Cost is $10. If under 18, please bring a parent to sign forms.

There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, plus the Nevada State Museum will host 2 behind the scenes tours in natural history and anthropology. Plus, the fourth annual Carson City Off-Road kicks off its three-day event with a Capital 15 Fun Ride and Free Clunker Crit Ride. Heading into the evening, “Newsies” will take stage at the Carson City Community Center and you can sit under the stars and watch “The Little Rascals” at 8 p.m. during movie night at John Mankins Park.
