The Nevada Bankers Association is joining other local business organizations in pushing for a more simplified and streamlined process to help small businesses comply with the loan forgiveness requirements of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

Local customers visited Carson City area casinos on reopening day Thursday, June 4 with new guidelines and safety measures put in place.

After a statewide shutdown in March due to COVID-19, casinos were allowed to resume operations Thursday under safety rules established by the Center for Disease Control and Nevada Gaming Control Board.

On Friday May 29, Carson City bars and pubs were allowed to reopen under the Governor’s Phase 2. While many rejoiced, it is also putting bar owners in a difficult position.

For many, securing emergency funds such as the Payment Protection Program (PPP) has been an ongoing struggle, and many small businesses have yet to see a dime despite months of shut down.

After the statewide shutdown in March due to COVID-19, Carson City area casinos are preparing to return to business this week, joining dozens of casinos in northern Nevada as they are set to resume operations on Thursday, June 4, the first day gaming establishments are allowed to reopen.

This Friday, May 22 at 4 p.m. Casino Fandango’s award-winning Duke’s Steak House in Carson City will reopen to the public. As part of phase one reopening, the Nevada State Gaming Control Board is allowing restaurants inside casinos to open provided certain industry-specific criteria are met; Duke’s will be one of the first to reopen in Northern Nevada.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called late Wednesday morning to a two-vehicle crash in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East. A Care Flight air ambulance landed near the crash scene and flew one patient to the hospital.

A year ago today, firefighters were called to the historic Adele's restaurant at 5:19 a.m., during a freezing morning before the sun had even crested the hills. By noon Wednesday, all "non-essential" businesses in Nevada were required to shut down by state decree in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. However, some local business owners were confused as to the procedure for the shut down, which businesses in fact are required to close and in what ways can they remain open.
