Carson City deputies make drug, warrant arrests

A 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 2500 block of Kit Sierra for parole and probation violation, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.

According to the report, Lindsie Newman was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies after they learned that Newman, a parolee absconder, was staying at a residence on Kit Sierra Way.

Introductory Fly-Fishing Academy happening Aug. 28-29 in Carson City

DMV to extend weekday hours in Reno and Vegas; no changes for Carson City, rural offices

Nevada DMV will offer extended hours on weekdays but close Saturdays at its Reno and Las Vegas offices, officials announced Wednesday. DMV says the changes will offer more appointments while maintaining COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The plans do not affect Carson City and rural Nevada offices.

Carson City deputies arrest man for grand larceny after he drove away with new car from car dealership

A 66-year-old Bristol Bay, NV man was arrested in the 3200 block of South Carson Street for grand larceny and possession of stolen property after stealing a car from a car dealership.

Learn about Pioneer High School in Carson City in time for the 2020 School Year

Pioneer High School is a public high school in the Carson City School District. All 9th-12th grade CCSD students are encouraged to enroll. PHS is accredited through AdvancED and has been recognized by the Nevada Department of Education as a “Highlighted School” for achievement in 2011 and 2018. Students at PHS have been able to earn an Associate’s Degree from WNC along with their high school diploma free of charge.

Deadline on Wednesday for families to decide Carson City district in-school or distance-learning intent

Last week, the Carson City School Board approved the school district's Reopening Plan, which includes a hybrid schedule or a fully distance-learning program, as well as agreeing to push the start date to begin Monday, Aug. 24.

Parents need to submit their intent of preferred learning for their students by Wednesday Aug. 5 so that their student's school will know how to prepare.

Carson City sheriff's SET makes arrests for alleged marijuana concentrate sales

Three people were arrested Saturday by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team, with two of the suspects alleged to be connected to a suspected marijuana concentrate sales operation.

The Carson City School District School Board of Trustees approved the district’s proposed School Reopening Plan Tuesday night by a 4-3 vote. The trustees also voted to update the 2020-2021 Academic School Calendar, moving the official first day of school for students to begin Monday, Aug. 24, a week later than the day previously set for Monday, Aug. 17.

We are traveling the world this year! During the 5-day art camp students ages 5-10 will “visit” Asia, South America, Europe, Africa, and Australia to experience the art, culture, and music of these continents. Each day of the week will focus on the art and traditions of each of the continents. Each camper will have their “passport” stamped daily and will design a “travel bag” for all of their camp art projects.

Storey County cancels Virginia City Fireworks amid COVID-19 concerns, Cruise to continue as planned

According to Storey County Commissioner Jay Carmona the fireworks show in Virginia City has been canceled today as of 1 p.m. The Cruise will be continuing as planned.

According to Carmona, there was an issue with releasing the cancellation announcement but the fireworks are indeed cancelled this year.
