The Carson Water Subconservancy District, a multi-county and bi-state agency promoting cooperative action in the Carson River Watershed, has launched its October Watershed Moment public service announcement (PSA), “Pitch In,” which highlights how trash and recycling habits in Nevada impact our environment and the health of the Carson River Watershed.

Carson City and Douglas County are again participating in a statewide Christmas tree recycling effort. As in previous years, Christmas trees can be placed curbside on your regular trash collection day or taken to one of several drop off locations.

Please remove all decorations, lights, tinsel and bases prior to recycling; if the tree is longer than six feet, cut the tree into pieces.

The Carson City School District’s Nutrition Services is pleased to announce, with the assistance of Chartwells, their new food service management company, they will provide free aluminum water bottles to all students in the district.

Gov. Steve Sisolak has ordered — not asked — all nonessential businesses in the state to shut down and cease operations at midnight Friday as part of a monthlong closure to avoid further spread of the novel coronavirus.

Happy Saturday Carson City! We have a bunch of great events going on in the region throughout the weekend, so check below to see what’s happening!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Nevada Artists Association New Year’s Show, and there’s a historical Curry family presentation at the Nevada State Museum. Famed country rock band I See Hawks in L.A. perform at the Historic Silver City Schoolhouse on Saturday.
