CARSON CITY — Holiday shoppers looking for that “Only in Nevada” gift have an option tucked in between Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday.

The Carson City Chamber continues to search for new items for their artisan store to launch in time for holiday gift giving. This year, the Chamber partnered with Silver State Industries to introduce the first in several series of collector’s puzzles featuring iconic Carson City scenes.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City has set the dates for its 34th year of Santa Train, an annual holiday tradition that spans generations.

How about a high temperature of 74 degrees in the Nevada state capital on the first Sunday of November? That's according to the National Weather Service in Reno, and it ought to be motivation enough to get outside, soak up the warm weather and enjoy all that the Carson City area has to offer.

Happy Friday, Carson City. Another weekend draws nigh, one more closer to Nevada Day and Halloween.

Every spooky Halloween or family friendly fall themed event in Carson City, Gardnerville, Virginia City, Reno, Sparks, Dayton, and more.

This Saturday, northern Nevadans can learn what it takes to become a homeowner as the Nevada Rural Housing Authority will host a seminar that gives potential home buyers the tools needed to navigate the buying process.

The theme of the 30th anniversary year of Dayton Valley Days this Saturday and Sunday is “Community,” celebrating both the 100th year anniversary of the Dayton High School building which has since become a community center, and the community of Dayton Valley as a whole.

Highway 395 from Walker to Bridgeport and State Route 108 over Sonora Pass remain closed Thursday due to the Boot Fire, which remains out of control and burning along the Walker River northwest of Bridgeport in Mono County, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

While many people enjoy three days off through Labor Day this weekend, the locomotives and their volunteer crews at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (NSRM) are going full-steam ahead.

The V&T Railway Commission is looking for upbeat, energetic performers to portray characters from the movie and recreate the story of “The Polar Express” aboard the historic V&T Railroad in Carson City.

I’m not even going to speculate on the air quality, but please use your best judgement when choosing your activities and there may be some cancellations that I am not aware of. Downtown has a full day of options, but the back roads may be a little more difficult to navigate due to construction projects. The great music that awaits will be worth the hassle.
