Carson City Nugget feeding community for over six decades with Thanksgiving feasts

Together with Friends In Service Helping (FISH), hundreds of people enjoyed a hot, home cooked meal served up by community volunteers.
Pies for Parkinson's: Homemade pie sale benefits local chapter

Patriot Blvd, Reno.
A sampling of fall pies, including chocolate, apple, peach, pecan, and pumpkin in regular and mini-sizes are available for purchase, along with fresh muffins, cupcakes, fudge and cookies. Prices vary.
All proceeds benefit the local chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association. For more information, call (775) 434-1880.
Carson City Turkey Trot early registration deadline is Thursday

The Carson City Turkey Trot is an event the entire family will enjoy. Hosted by St. Teresa Catholic School, the fitness event offers an 8K (5-mile) run, 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk, and the Gobble Wobble Kids Fun Run.

Head downtown for the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the season, then wander a few blocks north for Due Sorella’s Spring Vintage Market. You may as well just keep the car parked. With the monthly Wine Walk, Pour for Paws in McFadden Plaza, and Crystal’s Crusade Street Party Fundraiser on W. Telegraph, downtown is the place to be. There are so many options this weekend, so take a gander and enjoy your weekend.

Let me tell you, downtown is going to be hopping, not to mention the Early Season Farmers Market making its seasonal debut in the parking lot at W. Musser and N. Nevada – just behind Due Sorella. Take the kids down to Bailys Pond at Fuji Park for the annual Tom Brooks Memorial Kids’ Fishing Day. A trip to the train museum comes with the opportunity to ride on the Historic McKeen Motor Car.

The Tahoe Mountain Milers host a fun run every year to celebrate. If you can run 3.14 miles in a time closest to 31.4 minutes, the bragging rights, and a delicious pie, will be yours. Spaghetti is on the menu at the Nevada Governor’s Mansion where the Nurses of Western Nevada College are hosting a fundraiser.

Because of the holiday, just about everywhere will be closed with the exception of casinos and a few grocery stores with limited hours. Earn yourself a second helping of pie by participating in the annual Turkey Trot. In Carson City, you’ll start the 5K or 8K run at the Governor’s Mansion on Mountain Street. If you’re in the Carson Valley, head to Minden Park for their inaugural 5K.
