For that matter, how many adults say they are going to write a book one day, paint like Michelangelo, or seek discomfort, my own personal new year’s resolution, by learning something new, performing selfless endeavors, or fulfilling an item on their bucket list?

The Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range will be closed from January 3-17, 2020, for lead reclamation operations. For safety reasons, all shooting activities, including reservations and public use, are canceled during construction.

Lead reclamation is an important environmental best practice for outdoor shooting ranges and is recommended by the National Rifle Association and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

Heading into last day of 2019, we're looking at partly sunny skies with a high around 50 and low around 30. Activities around the capital city region are lined up through the day and evening. Enjoy and celebrate as we prepare to toast a welcome to 2020. Also do consider a designated driver, cab ride, Lyft or Uber to be on the safe side for your ride home if out celebrating. As we head into the final Monday of 2019, we're looking at a slight chance of light snow in the morning as a weak weather system brushes the region. Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a toy and gift drive for homeless kids and teens, the 12th annual Christmas Carol Playalong for Strings at the Carson Mall, Carson City’s first-ever "Unsilent Night" at the Brewery Arts Center, a Só Sol dinner with entertainment at Sassafras, a "Pink Party" cancer center fundraiser at the Lighthouse Bar, comedian Dan St. Paul at the Carson Comedy Club and more.

Join the Carson Comedy Club inside the Carson Nugget this weekend for the standup stylings of headliner act Dan St Paul performing this Friday and Saturday.

Dan is a San Francisco native who has appeared on several episodes of An Evening at the Improv, VH-1, MTV, and Comic Strip Live. Since then, he has opened for such superstars as Jerry Seinfeld, the late Garry Shandling, Kenny Loggins, Smokey Robinson, and Vince Gill.

Clouds will roll into the capital city region Tuesday keeping temperatures quite chilly. Happenings around town include organized morning and evening fitness walks, a "Stuff the Bus Toy Drive" at Capital Ford, a Planning Commission meeting on the proposed Andersen Ranch development and a Posada event at Mark Twain Elementary. Plus, the Carson City School Orchestra Program will hold its annual Holiday Concert at the community center, The Peanuts Gang Trio will hold a free holiday concert at Sassafras, and more.

The Nature Conservancy in Nevada, in partnership with the Nevada Division of Natural Heritage and the Desert Research Institute, recently completed the Nevada Wetland Rapid Assessment Method, a draft assessment protocal developed as a product of a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant awarded to NDNH.

The Carson City School District will hold its next School Board Meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

The meeting with begin with the Superintendent’s Report, which includes the Seeliger Choir Holiday Performance, Recognition of Ms. Jennifer Cherpeski for her years of service on the Family Life Committee, and general announcements.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! Consort Canzona, a select group of instrumentalists and singers specializing in early music, will present “Something Old, Something New” concerts this holiday season on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m., at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, 3680 Highway 395 (just south of Best Buy) in Carson City. Admission is free, donations welcome.

Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, also known as TOCCATA, presents its 14th annual performance of Handel’s beloved “Messiah,” along with seasonal carols. Events include the 25th annual Carson High School Holiday Craft Fair, a “War of the Worlds” play at the Brewery Arts Center, a Chili Bingo Night fundraiser to benefit the Carson Middle School Band, laughs at the Carson Nugget and much more.

The Carson City School District will be holding its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

A discussion and possible action will be on the table for proposed capital projects as supported by the facilities master plan committee, including construction of classrooms at Eagle Valley Middle School intended to alleviate student overcrowding at Carson Middle School, in an estimated amount not to exceed $8.2 million, which will be financed by the sale of the 2019B school bonds.

Comedian Derek Richards will be performing at The Carson Comedy Club in Carson City at the Carson Nugget this Friday and Saturday.

Heading into Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, events around the capital city include a Polka Dot Powerhouse lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, the Navy League capital city chapter will celebrate veterans at its monthly meeting held at Gold Dust West, the Carson City School District seeks public input on its Strategic Plan at a community meeting, plus art showings, classes and more.
