The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

There was an altercation between two members of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners on Thursday at a meeting in Stateline at Lake Tahoe.

An unusual and persistent weather pattern will send cold Pacific storms into the Carson City region Wednesday through early next week, a pattern that is more typical of early March rather than late May.

For Carson City and throughout western Nevada we can expect periods of rain and strong gusty winds and for the Sierra, heavy wet snow starting at around 8,000 feet and dropping to 6,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service.

24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 9:40 p.m. in the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive for misdemeanor resisting, obstructing and alternative sentencing violation.

Marcellous Davone Galaviz was convicted of child abuse with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm in Carson City on Thursday following a three day trial. The man claimed that he awoke from a nap to a spirit holding him down and burning him, and later he realized the spirit had also burned his girlfriend’s baby who was under his care.

A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and violation of probation conditions following an incident involving a knife at a laundromat, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

This is the sixth in a series of columns summarizing my Controller’s Annual Report (CAR) for fiscal year 2018 (FY18).

The first two columns showed that since FY06 state spending has grown faster than Nevada’s economy, thus imposing an ever-larger real burden on Nevada families and businesses, whose real per-capita incomes are lower now than in FY06. UPDATE 4:02PM: The Lyon County Sheriff's Office has identified the man involved in a standoff that happened Tuesday morning. George “Vic” Sheppard was taken into custody at around noon and faces a charge of domestic battery. A female victim was treated for minor injuries.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Monday morning to a small brush fire off of Carson River Road on the west side of Sierra Vista Lane near Silver Saddle Ranch.

A 39-year-old man sought by Carson City sheriff's detectives for burglary and using a stolen debit card was taken into custody Saturday and faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, a sheriff's deputy said.
