Open house for remodeled Richardson Building

One block from the State Library and Archives in the heart of Carson City’s downtown government sector, the landmark building at 504 E. Musser Street has been renovated and beautifully transformed as the Richardson Building.

An open house is scheduled Friday, March 30 from 4pm to 8pm to celebrate the unveiling of this 15,120 square foot, 3-story building.

Owner Mike Richardson stated “This very attractive building has great access to downtown and we’re very excited to show it off to the public.”

Grace Christian Academy hosts March 6 Open House

Grace Christian Academy will host a school-wide open house for prospective families from 5:00 – 7:00p.m. on Tuesday March 6.

GCA is a Kindergarten through 8th Classical Christian School. Christopher Perrin describes, “Classical education is a long tradition of asking questions and digging up answers, consulting others, then asking, seeking and finding once more.” The open house will offer attendees the opportunity to learn about classical education, tour the campus, and meet the school’s staff.

Carson City's Planned Parenthood serves the community, helps the impoverished

Planned Parenthood evokes strong reactions in most people. The name has been in the media a lot lately; from the many attempts to rescind their funding at a federal level to the recent fiasco with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, nearly everyone has the name at the tip of their tongue these days. With that in mind, it's not too surprising that 100 to 150 people crowded into the new Carson City Planned Parenthood clinic to check out the new digs at their open house Monday night.

Join hosts Laura Fitzsimmons, Pam Graber, and Maggie Tracey at the Carson City Planned Parenthood on Monday, February 13, from 5 - 7 p.m. for an open house. Their new facility is located at 1201 North Stewart Street, suite 120.

Planned Parenthood offers several services to the community, including mammograms, women wellness checkups, STD screening and treatment and HPV vaccinations, as well as contraception options. Come to the center and see for yourself; there will be tours, wine, refreshments, and "love kits" for all.

Brewery Arts Center seeking new operator for cafe

The Brewery Arts Center is pleased to announce it is in process of seeking a new operator for the BAC Cafe located in the Artisans Store.

Qualified food operators interested in submitting a proposal please seek the Request for Proposal here. Deadline is March 9.

The BAC will be hosting an open house for any interested operators Monday Feb. 13 at 3pm, including a tour of the facilities and get an over view of the program.

Silver & Snowflakes Festival of Lights

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval commended Sierra Lutheran High School's strong academic program and its overall approach to education during his special address at the school's Campus Consecration & Open House event yesterday.

Before an estimated audience of over 400 students, parents, and community members, Sandoval traced SLHS's success to the words of Matthew 7:24, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."

Sierra Lutheran High School Launches 10th Anniversary Celebration

On the eve of opening the 2011-12 academic year, Sierra Lutheran High School (SLHS) has announced a series of events that the school will be sharing with the community to commemorate the school’s tenth anniversary.

Sierra Lutheran, which is part of the 165-year old Lutheran education system in America, has launched a Celebration Series that will offer the SLHS community and the community at-large the opportunity to take part in celebratory, informational, and recreational activities over the coming school year.

Nevada State DARE Officer Conference Begins Monday

Carson City Sheriff’s Office was selected by the Nevada DARE Officer Association (NDOA) as an “Agency of Choice” and will host the Nevada State DARE Officer Conference May 2-5, 2011. DARE Officers representing law enforcement agencies from across the state will be participating in a variety of training activities that will enhance classroom skills, update DARE lessons, and to discuss current prevention issues. The event is sponsored by Northern Nevada Coin, Fandango, and Carson Station, with additional funding through Justice Assistance Grant.

Sixth Annual Science Expo at Lake Tahoe coming in March

The UC Davis’s Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) in partnership with the Tahoe Expedition Academy (TEA) will host the sixth annual Science Expo on March 16.

The fair features interactive experiments and demonstrations for children from the third to sixth grade, ages 8 to 12 and their families. The event is free and will run from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences in Incline Village. Ice cream will be provided by Susie Scoops of Incline Village and UC Davis TERC.
