Commerce and rail center in Lyon, Churchill counties on track for development
Submitted by editor on Thu, 02/18/2016 - 12:48pmA new and long awaited 2,000-acre rail center and industrial park development is going forward in Lyon and Churchill counties, officials tied to the project announced Thursday.
The Gateway Commerce Center project will be built near Hazen, Nev. on U.S. Highway 50 Alternate, according to a joint announcement by Northern Nevada Development Authority, Gateway Commerce Center LLC and Watco Companies, LLC.

This New Year will be a busy one for Carson City. Foremost on our minds, perhaps, is the Downtown Street Narrowing Project due to begin early February/March depending on weather conditions. One of the goals stated by Carson City staff is to have this project complete in time for the Nevada Day parade. We should, however, keep our chief consideration foremost: “Let's do it Right.”
Bay Area plastics company to relocate to Dayton; will add jobs to Northern Nevada region

Peterson Products will move its production facility and headquarters from Belmont, Calif., to Lyon County. The company recently leased a building and plans to create up to 70 jobs in Northern Nevada and adding another manufacturer to the region.

California rubber company to move plastics division to Carson Valley

VIP Rubber and Plastic has purchased a building near Johnson Lane and plans a Jan. 4, 2016 opening. The company's main manufacturing facility will remain in La Habra, Calif.
NNDA launches program to help companies expand, acquire property

The Nevada Certified Site Program as part of their continuing effort to attract more businesses to the Silver State. The program is aimed to provide critical decision making information to business owners and site selectors to allow informed decisions, said NNDA Executive Director Robert Hooper.
NNDA announces expansion of New Millennium steel facility in Fallon

New Millennium recently began a two phase expansion at its current facility and will hire up to 17 additional employees over the next six months.
Carson City Manager Joins the Nevada State EB-5 Regional Center’s Board of Directors

Additionally, Marano mentors at the Adams Hub for Innovation and is a member of the Western Nevada College Institutional Advisory Council. Further, he has been an active member of International City Managers’ Association.

The show, previously at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery, will be available at the Library through November 19.
The Library will host a public reception for Industrial Art on Friday, October 2, 3:30-5pm in honor of Manufacturer's Month [October]. The Library’s MT1 training room and the Digitorium will also feature students’ manufacturing activities during the open house event.

Commerce Tax: The Real Facts

Brian Sandoval. NNDA exists to promote investment in Nevada, so he tried to put the best face possible on this abomination.
However, Nevadans deserve the unvarnished facts about this particularly pernicious tax. So we’ll respond to his key points.
Claim: "The margins tax was a bad piece of legislation because it taxes all companies the same" but the commerce tax creates needed flexibility.

NNDA regional delegation, Carson City manager to join Sandoval on European trade mission

Brian Sandoval, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and a sub delegation from the Sierra region, including Carson City manager Nick Marano, on an upcoming trade mission to England, Ireland, Germany and Poland.
