The park is located at 1450 Hwy 88, ¼ mile north of the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or use one of the park’s chairs. Dogs are not permitted in the park, with the exception of certified service animals.

Shootout coming to Capitol City Gun Club this Saturday

The Carson City Classic Cinema Club is a group of classic movie fans who present a film, produced prior to 1970, on the first Tuesday of each month. Our mission is to raise funds to help provide tools to our youth who wish to study the arts, but may be in need of resources.

Continuing a winning tradition, UNR concrete canoe team takes regionals
Submitted by editor on Mon, 04/06/2015 - 3:29pmContinuing a winning tradition that began in 2006, the University of Nevada, Reno concrete canoe team won the regional qualifying event and is heading to the National Concrete Canoe Championship races for the 10th time in a row, to defend the school’s national championship title won last year.
The team dominated the seven northern California teams in the five race categories, paddling their 138-pound canoe, Aquatone, to win each of the races at the Mid-Pacific Regional Competition at Lake Natoma in Folsom, Calif. Friday, April 3.

Windy conditions Monday with warming trend through the week
Submitted by editor on Sun, 03/22/2015 - 5:09pmA spring storm will move into the Sierra and western Nevada tonight bringing gusty winds and chances for rain and Sierra snow through Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Gusty winds will create rough boating conditions on area lakes this afternoon as well as turbulence for air travel. Strong southwest crosswinds with gusts to 35-45 mph on area roads, including Highways 50 and Highway 395 and and I-580 and I-80, may result in difficult driving for high profile vehicles.

Weather Service: Rain for Carson City, snow in the Sierra, new storm to arrive late Sunday
Submitted by editor on Fri, 02/06/2015 - 4:14pmThe arriving winter storm brings significant snow to the Sierra and rain to Western Nevada through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
For the Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, rain continues throughout the night. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible overnight. There’s a 50 percent chance of rain Saturday afternoon and a 30 percent chance Saturday night. The High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Saturday.
Carson City sheriff's SET team arrests two with more than 10 pounds of marijuana
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 02/06/2015 - 8:32amA traffic stop Thursday night led the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team to more than 10 pounds of marijuana and the arrests of two people.
Arrested were Derek Peterson, 24, and Maile Daugherty, 20, both of Carson City. Each face felony charges of possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and trafficking marijuana. Peterson also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding. His bail amount is $23,699. Daugherty's bail amount was set at $22,500.
