CARSON CITY — Native American artist Melissa Melero-Moose finds inspiration for her mixed media creations from the landscape and culture of the Northern Paiute of the Great Basin.

“Willows, tules, cattails, and pine nuts are all very important staples to the Paiute people, being sources of food, shelter, and implements made with artistic intention,” she said. “I consider these works to be a perspective of my tribe and culture through the eyes of a Native woman, mother and artist.”

Legislation regarding marijuana shops, lounges to be discussed at Thursday's Board of Supervisors meeting

The April Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on April 4 beginning at 8:30 am. Items on the table for discussion include a tax on tobacco vapor products, legislation regarding marijuana shop taxes, expanding hiking trail systems, upcoming legislation, and more.

The April 4 meeting will occur in the Sierra Room of the community center, located at 851 E. William Street.

Minden business one of seven to receive business incentives from Gov. Sisolak, Economic Board

LAS VEGAS/CARSON CITY, Nev. – Gov. Steve Sisolak and the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) board approved performance-based initiatives for seven businesses to relocate in Nevada or expand their operations, which could create 270 new jobs.

The companies’ applications approved for initiatives represent a wide range of businesses across the state including a robotic company in Reno, a technology company in Las Vegas, and an industrial supplier of organic botanicals, spices, chili and teas in Minden.

Families rally in Carson City, urge lawmakers to save Opportunity Scholarship program

Dozens of students and families from around the Silver State rallied Thursday at the Nevada Legislature grounds in Carson City as part of Opportunity Scholarship Advocacy Day, urging legislators to save scholarship funding for the hundreds of children who are using the money to go to schools that better fit their individual needs.
