National Night Out is back this Tuesday at Mills Park in Carson City

National Night Out, one of Carson City’s largest summer celebrations, is returning Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mills Park for its 17th year. And by all indications, it will be the biggest yet.

Multiple agencies responded including Carson City Fire Department, BLM, Reno Fire Department, Sparks Fire Department, and the U.S. Forest Service. Four aircraft supported fire suppression. Officials say the aim is to have northbound I-580 at Bowers Mansion opened by 8:30 p.m.

33 arrested in Douglas County during holiday festivities

Starting on July 3, 2019 at 3:00 pm until the morning of July 5, 2019, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office wants to report that a total of 33 arrests were made during the 4th of July holiday.

Semi-truck and vehicle collide between Carson City and Dayton Tuesday evening

On Tuesday evening just after 5 p.m. a vehicle and semi-truck collision left Highway 50 momentarily grid locked near the Maverick Station.

According to Trooper Hannah DeGoey of Nevada Highway Patrol, by 5:30 p.m. roadways were clear and two people were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

According to Carson Now reader Melinda Cash, the road was blocked by the collision but other motorists were able to go around the wreck on the dirt access roads.

UPDATE 3:20PM: KTVN Channel 2 is reporting that the suspect caught in Douglas County following a vehicle pursuit was a possible suspect in a shooting that happened in Reno. It was previously reported via law enforcement agencies and alerted through dispatch that the suspect was wanted for homicide. Reno Police tells KTVN that the victim is being treated at the hospital at this time.

Westbound Highway 50 was closed briefly at Spooner Junction early Sunday evening after a report of a man with a rifle running on the roadway. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol arrested the man at gunpoint and recovered a rifle.
