Racing to its 35th year, Tahoe Mountain Milers invites all to participate in the Nevada Day Classic 8K run and 2-mile walk Saturday through the tree lined streets of downtown and historic west side of Carson City.

The Tahoe Mountain Milers Running Club will be hosting the 32nd running of Nevada Day Classic 2M/8K, on October 30 at 8 AM, at the Carson City Nugget.
This is a classic road course through the beautiful streets of the historic West Side of Carson City. The races precede the Nevada Day Parade celebrating Nevada's entry into the Union with a course finish down the main drag of Carson City with spectators lining the way.

All runners of all distances will receive a custom wooden medal! The first 200 runners that register are guaranteed a t-shirt!

The 30th annual Nevada Day Classic Run/Walk kicked-off the weekend festivities in Carson City on Saturday.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region Friday through Sunday to celebrate Nevada Day. Activities include the annual parade down Carson Street, a carnival at Mills Park, the 30th annual Nevada Day Classic, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, beard and rock drilling contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit kids and adults of all ages.

The Silver State celebrates its birthday this week in Carson City and will put on a statehood celebration like no other as Nevada Day comes into full swing, featuring the annual parade down Carson Street on Saturday, a carnival at Mills Park, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, activities for adults and kids, contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit every wild hair.

It's that spooky time again, when the leaves begin to fall, Nevada Day is gearing up to bring us the best parade in the state, and our little ghouls and goblins are putting together their terrifying and adorable costumes in preparation for sugary chaos.

It's parade day in Carson City, which means a host of Nevada Day activities throughout the state capital all day long.

Of course, the 80th annual Nevada Day Parade is the centerpiece of the Silver State's 154th birthday celebration.

Nevada's celebration of statehood provides for a bevy of activities that showcase the Silver State's best. From contests to exhibits, food and beverages of all kinds, Native dancing, hot air balloons, concerts, a carnival celebration at Mills Park and the famed Nevada Day parade, there is something for everyone throughout the long weekend.

Carson City, NV: Registration is now open for the Nevada Day Classic, an 8K run and 2 mile run/walk that brings together hundreds of runners and walkers just prior to the Nevada Day Parade in historic Carson City.

Nevada Day officially began Saturday morning with the annual Nevada Day Classic 8K and two-mile run/walk in downtown Carson City, followed by pancake breakfasts hosted by the Builders Association of Western Nevada and Carson Lodge No. 1, and then annual sunrise hot air balloon launch organized by Relax.

The Nevada Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. at William and Carson Streets.

The Nevada Day parade, with all of its corresponding events, is my favorite thing that Carson City has to offer. Normally, I would just have the complete listing of everything Saturday has to offer in my weekend event summary, but Parade Day offers a few challenges. Namely, there is just so much going on in downtown Carson City that creating a separate listing seems easiest for all of my readers. Whether it’s the bloody marys, the beard contest, or running into long-lost friends that gets you there, it's going to be a beautiful, sunny day.

Finally, Nevada Day weekend is here. State offices are closed, the kids are off school, and Carson City is hoppin’. Join the Downtown Business Association for the ‘Passport to Downtown’ with live music, a raffle, craft and vendor show, and a family fun center, complete with petting zoo. Stick around for the annual fall Blinky Man Costumed Nighttime Bike Ride Pub Crawl with Lights. Halloween festivities, a carnival in Mills Park, and opening night of the La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow are on today’s list, as well.

It’s that time again. The Battle Born state celebrates its admission to the United States on the last Friday of October, with the annual Nevada Day parade on Saturday. New this year is a ‘Passport to Downtown’ event on Friday. Also new this year is the one-night-only curated art show, Capital Collage, on Friday night featuring over 20 diverse artists and organizations.

Nevada’s namesake guide dog puppy-in-training is almost ready to return to Guide Dogs for the Blind for his formal training as a working guide. At last year’s Nevada Day Classic, a lucky puppy raiser was presented with Nevada, then only 8 weeks old.

Normally my weekend list is sorted by chronological start time, but for this one I will be separating out the downtown parade related activities for your ease. Let’s just call this Nevad-oween weekend. So much crazy fun awaits: whether it’s the celebration of our ‘new’ downtown, Halloween parties for kids and adults alike, or our State Museum’s 75th Anniversary. Start your day at the Museum, hang around for the downtown ribbon cutting and festivities, then join in the costumed fun as Blinky Man hits the streets. Do the time warp at the Brewery Arts Center: the Rocky Horror Picture Show Party starts at 8:30 p.m. This is going to be one amazing weekend, so let’s get this party started.

Nevada is one of the few states that celebrate its Admission Day, and boy do we throw a party. A parade, competitions of strength and facial hair, hot air balloons, bloody marys, a carnival, pow wow, and free chili are just a few of the festivities awaiting the capital city on Saturday.

The party begins Friday this year with a ribbon cutting celebration of the 'new' downtown. The Nevada State Museum hits its 75th Anniversary this year and will have a day full of fun and surprises. It may be a Monday, but it gets us closer to one of my favorite festivities: the Nevada Day Parade. The holidays come rolling along quickly after that. For those who need some help this Thanksgiving, you can sign up for a food basket at the Salvation Army. A Holiday Craft Show at Browsers Corner Bookstore will give you a head start on that gift list; consider a Friends of the Carson City Library Membership for your more bookish friends. The Nevada Day Classic, an 8k run and 2 mile walk/run presented by Tahoe Mountain Milers, is hosting another great event during the packet pickup at the Carson Mall and is open to the public, regardless of participation in the Nevada Day Classic.

Registration is open for the 27th Nevada Day Classic to Benefit Guide Dogs for the Blind that will be held Saturday, October 29.

Since 1989, the Nevada Day Classic has been an annual event presented by the Tahoe Mountain Milers. Only in Nevada does a state throw a party in its capital city and everyone is invited. And so it is with the celebration Saturday of the Silver State's 151st birthday in Carson City.
Nevadans from north, south, east west and central make the annual pilgrimage to the state capital to honor and celebrate statehood which came, Oct. 31, 1864.

It was a run and walk through downtown Carson City that can only be done the Silver State way here on this Nevada Day. The all-ages Nevada Day Classic Run and Walk is a way to get the blood pumping before the parade starts.

The event, organized by the Tahoe Mountain Milers running club and its members in cooperation with many sponsors, has supported many community organizations over the years. This year’s event benefits Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Are you ready for this? Nevada Day weekend has arrived and brings with it a downtown filled with friends, neighbors, and fun. Hot air balloons, the annual beard contest, the parade, tours of the Governor’s Mansion, and more make this time of year amazing. The carnival at Mills Park, and the Pow-Wow at the Carson Colony take the festivities to the next level.
