Northern Nevada Development Authority: Mineral County Joins Nevada’s Sierra Region

The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development \has designated NNDA as the regional development authority (RDA) for the county, effective July 1, 2019. Mineral County joins Nevada’s Sierra Region that also includes Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County and Storey County.

The third and final day of Carson City Off-Road cruises to downtown Carson City with Pro Men and Women Backcountry races starting at 7:30 a.m. Muscle Powered will hold its weekly Sunday bicycle ride at Fremont Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Plus, the fourth annual Carson City Off-Road kicks off its three-day event with a Capital 15 Fun Ride and Free Clunker Crit Ride. Heading into the evening, “Newsies” will take stage at the Carson City Community Center and you can sit under the stars and watch “The Little Rascals” at 8 p.m. during movie night at John Mankins Park.

In the 1860s, the first Chinese immigrants found their way to Aurora, Nevada and by the 1870s, they had settled along King Street in Bodie, California, creating a sizeable Chinatown. By the 1880s, they cornered the woodcutting market, providing cordwood and charcoal to neighboring residents, businesses, and ranches.

There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening.
