A 70-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday at a motel after he allegedly threatened people with knives, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Ronald Bonds was arrested at 6:40 p.m. on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon after officers were called to the motel in the 1400 block of North Carson Street.

A Carson City man was arrested Friday on felony charges including possession of methamphetamine for sale after officers found a jar containing several bindles of powder and crystal form of the drug, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

This morning, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, which means we are in for six more weeks of winter. While, in Carson City this means hope for a few more powder days in a very powder-light season, the east coast is less than happy by the news. Ultimately, it’s about one thing — perspective.

Some people in Carson City don't realize there was a small pioneer town named Empire just east of Carson. In the photo background Carson City is visible. Empire, Nevada was a milling town, where large steam driven stamping mills used Carson River water to help break down Virginia City ore so the silver and gold could be removed.

Mercury was used in the silver and gold removal process, and the removal of mercury used is still an issue today. In this photo local school teacher Jean Shawna is looking over some of the pioneer headstones.

Silver City, NV – August 4, 2014 – The Comstock Residents Association (CRA) announced today that it is seeking financial assistance from Comstock Mining Inc. (CMI) to conduct document and data review following the mine’s continued activity near residences in the area.

This request succeeds CMI’s offer to pay for blood testing and soil analysis for Silver City residents due to potential health and environmental consequences of mining activity close to homes in the area.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team arrested a 27-year-old Dayton man Thursday after a needle filled with heroin was found after a traffic stop. David Scott Illig was arrested at 7:52 p.m. in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East.

According to the arrest report, a SET team officer patrolling noticed a white Mercury Topaz without license plates, traveling east on Highway 50.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife (http://www.ndow.org) reports:
Fishing varies from day to day, with some days being good, while others being slow. Best time of day is from about 6:00 am to 10:30 am and then again after the shadows start to hit the water in late afternoon.
Best conditions seem to be with a 5 to 10 mph breeze, putting a small chop on the water.
A few fish are being taken with small dry flies, mostly yellow in color, but most of the luck is still coming with nymphs below an indicator or dry fly.
