Playing host to The Way It Was Rodeo, Saturday and Sunday, the event marks the return of rodeo on the Comstock for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office accepting applications for Citizens Academy

The informative academy explains what the Sheriff’s Office does and how they do it. It also is designed to inform citizens about the important role community policing plays around Carson City.

It also marks the end of the summer. Everyone has gone back to school, and the autumn crisp is beginning to sneak in. No matter where you roam this weekend: north, south, east, or west there is fun to be had. Or stick around town and enjoy the many things that make Carson City unique.

- Take a ride on the Virginia and Truckee #25 Steam Engine at the Nevada State Train Museum Friday through Monday.

Small town, big fireworks and parade July 4 in Virginia City

Davidson at 6,200 feet elevation, the “kaboom” rocks the old 1850s historic mining community as the fireworks soar high above the town and Six Mile Canyon, making it visible from nearly anywhere in town.
