As part of the 22nd Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, which happens Thursday in Carson City, a baton was relayed by Nevada peace officers from Las Vegas to Carson City, concluding Wednesday, May 1 in Carson City.

All walks are 1 to 2 miles with duration of 1 hour with usually negligible elevation gain, and frequently on paved or smooth paths. Carson High School class of '79 Reunion

Our favorite sheep friends are working hard to reduce cheatgrass for fire season, and while people are permitted to go and coo over how adorable they are, multiple people have been also bringing their furry friends without leashing them, which scares the sheep and makes it difficult to perform their important work.

Obituary: Pioneering V&T Railroad steam train touring stalwart Robert C. Gray dies

Robert C. Gray, 97, of Orinda, California passed away peacefully at home April 3, 2019. Robert was born in Oakland, California to Harry E. Gray and Kathleen S. Carter on August 13, 1921.

Robert was kind, energetic and lived a full life. He was an advanced stamp collector and in 1935 he attended the first Boy Scout National Jamboree at Washington D.C.

Sheriff's Office approved to apply for grant to fund victim's advocate for Carson City

According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, the Sheriff’s Office is applying for a grant in order to fund a victim’s advocate position, a position that used to be under the umbrella of Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

The Carson City Board of Supervisor’s approved the application during their Thursday meeting.

Final season of path construction along State Route 28 at Tahoe begins this month

CARSON CITY — Final construction of State Route 28 shared use path, water quality and traffic safety improvements will begin April 22 with single lane closures and short-term full road closures south of Incline Village at Lake Tahoe. Project completion is anticipated for early July and will be announced prior to opening.

Celebration of Life for Donna Curtis set for April 20 at Fuji Park

There will be a "Celebration of the Life and Times of Donna Curtis" on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the dog park at Fuji Park in Carson City. Curtis died Nov. 1, 2018.

In 2013, Donna Curtis spearheaded the purchase of a memorial bench on behalf of Carson City Democratic Women in the new off-leash dog park at the west end of Fuji Park.

Vietnam Veterans honored at Carson City ceremony in Mills Park

Dozens of military veterans, families and community members saluted the fallen during the Vietnam Veterans Day of Remembrance ceremony at Mills Park Saturday.

The ceremony was presented by the Carson Area Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

"Today we share a few moments with our fellow veterans, family and friends to reflect on what that war meant and what it means to us today,” said Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell.

Beginning April 16 hikes move to unpaved trails. Tuesday evening hikes will start at 5:30 pm and will be 4-6 miles in length. Capital City Arts Initiative presents 'The Lilley,' Northern Nevada's newest Art Museum

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents an exhibition, "The Lay of the Land," by artist Fred Howland in the Community Center’s Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition runs now through June 30, 2019. CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Friday, March 29, 5-7pm in the Sierra Room, and the artist will give a brief talk about his photography at 5:30 p.m.
