Carson City Library receives grant to bring bionics learning to middle school students in 2021

Reimagining learning, the Carson City Library is bringing robotics technology and engineering to Carson City middle school students in 2021. Utilizing analog and digital learning, students will build components of a bionic fish, elephant, and chameleon over the 3-day Bionics Camps designed to encourage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) related career exploration and development.

Few considered eligible for early ‘compassionate release’ as COVID-19 flares up at Carson City prison

Nevada prison officials say they’ve identified just two people in a population of nearly 14,000 who might be eligible for an early release on the basis of their susceptibility to COVID-19 and other factors, even as more than 80 percent of the inmate population in a Carson City prison has tested positive for coronavirus.

Douglas County flagged for elevated COVID cases; public asked to test, follow CDC guidelines

MINDEN, Nev. — The Nevada COVID Task Force notified Douglas County that they are flagged for elevated COVID-19 disease transmission. Douglas County saw a spike in infection rates back in July, but then numbers declined for several months.

Dayton Chamber awarded $14,150 for rural map project

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is initiating a public comment period on the proposed Forest-Wide Prescribed Fire Restoration Project. The purpose of this project is to increase the pace and scale of prescribed burning on lands within 6.2 million acres of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada and a small portion of eastern California.

Lyon County Commissioners approve seeking appraisal of potential new Government Complex in Dayton

County Manager Jeff Page sought authorization to hire an appraiser to determine the value of almost 14 acres in Dayton to eventually build a new government center to provide services to the residents of Dayton, Moundhouse and Silver City. The Board of County Commissioners approved the item at their November 5, 2020 meeting.

Annie was born January 4,1940 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Jay and Mamie Hart. She attended public schools in Seminole, Cushing, and Stroud, Oklahoma. Annie moved to Sterling, Colorado in 1959 where she met and married Kenneth Trautwein the same year.
