Update: Candidate for Carson City Library Director declines offer

UPDATE: According to the Carson City Library trustees, Cyndi O declined the job offer Friday. The trustees will meet to discuss the additional candidates and will make a decision soon regarding the position.

The Carson City Library trustees determined during the board meeting Thursday evening to offer the position of library director to Cyndi O.

“Cyndi recognizes we are a unique library,” said trustee Phyllis Patton. “We are a library that is a role model in Nevada, and we’ve been recognized nationally. She knows that and would be able to get in there and start right away.”

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce held a meet-and-greet reception for the new CEO of Carson Tahoe Health, Alan Garrett, at the Chamber Wednesday evening.

Community feedback informs selection of new Carson City Library Director

Feedback from the community will play an integral role in the selection of the Carson City Library’s new director.

“Trustees will be using the interviews and the community input from the meet and greet to select the library director during the May 30 meeting,” said Interim Director Diane Baker. “We appreciate all the input we’ve received from everyone involved.”

More than a dozen community members participated in Friday’s meet and greet, where they asked questions of the three finalists vying for the director position.

CARSON CITY — A new sitcom called “Casino Boss” starring comedian, movie star and Saturday Night Live alum, Joe Piscopo, is filming in the Carson Nugget Casino, located at 507 N. Carson Street. Show producers are holding a casting call for extras to appear in the pilot at Alatte inside the Nugget Tuesday, August 7 from 4-7 p.m.

Chili competitors at Carson City cook-off raise their game to benefit veterans

Mother Nature brought the heat Saturday to open the annual High Sierra and Nevada Capitol Regional Chili Cook Off held at Glen Eagles Restaurant in Carson City.

But chili flavors stole the show, which raises money to send veterans back East to Washington, D.C., on an all-expenses-paid trip that also pays tribute to their military service.
