Lyon County officials have been notified that an assisted living facility, Mason Valley Residence, in Yerington had a high number of positive tests for COVID-19.

It is reported that 34 out of 53 tests results were positive.

Heading into the weeknd, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City area. Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. A 53-year-old transient man, a 60-year-old Tenasca, Wash. man and a 34-year-old Fernley man were arrested in the 400 block of Fairview Drive Wednesday for possession of a stolen vehicle, organized retail theft, conspiracy to commit fraud, and possession of heroin.

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey hosts it’s monthly meeting virtually via Zoom this Thursday October 8 from 9am-11am. Speakers will address three topics during this month’s meeting.

The Carson City Host Lions Club is sponsoring a fun Chalk Art Contest as part of the Nevada Day festivities on October 31st.

Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th, have been designated “White Cane Days” by the Carson City Host Lions Club.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for assistance in locating a missing and endangered adult.

Conventions, sporting events with live audiences and large church gatherings will be allowed to resume once again after Gov. Steve Sisolak announced that he is raising the limit on public gatherings from 50 to 250 people — and even higher for some of the state’s largest venues.

Earlier this month, members of Sierra Nevada Realtors spent time improving their communities all throughout the region. The annual Realtors Give Back event was special this year because it also included areas outside of Carson City. Members participated in community service as a group in Dayton and gave a generous monetary donation to the Fallon Youth Club and to the Boys and Girls Club of Carson City.

It may be a bit quiet around the high school lately, but this will not stop the CHS Student Council from making their senior year one to remember. Leadership Adviser Ann Britt said, “I am pleased to announce the Corona Virus cannot take the fun out of everything, so we are hosting a Spirit Week, Sept. 25 through Oct. 2, at CHS.”

The Nevada Day Golf Tournament is returning to Carson City this Nevada Day after a long absence from the capital city.

According to Ken Hamilton, Executive Director of Nevada Day, the Golf Tournament is making a comeback this year for the first time in over a decade.

A 31-year-old Silver springs man was arrested in the 3300 block of N. Carson Street for felony burglary and possession of burglary tools.
