CARSON CITY — The Nevada Arts Council announced the awarding of $22,639.60 in statewide grants to support individual artists in the production and presentation of artistic projects that will occur between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2020.

Carson City was awarded a historic landmark suffrage marker honoring Felice Cohn, a Carson City native who made significant contributions to women’s rights in Nevada. The unveiling of the historic landmark is scheduled for Dec. 10, 2019 at 1 p.m. The landmark will be unveiled in front of the Legislature, adjacent to Carson St. near the crosswalk to McFadden Plaza, previously known as 3rd St.

Snow days, snow way. At least that's what the weather forecast calls for Tuesday. We'll see mostly cloudy skies before another chance of rain or snow arrives midweek and then a larger storm in time for the weekend. As the saying goes of Nevada weather: Wait a minute and it will change. It is also #GivingTuesday. If you have a favorite organization, it's a good time to send a few dollars their way. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the 31st season of the Nutcracker Ballet, a Feast with a Hero fundraiser at Slot World, Small Business Saturday throughout Carson City and Carson Valley, photos with Santa, a Telegraph Square sign dedication, Polar Express train rides at the V&T Railroad and more!

With snow overnight into the morning, the eve of Thanksgiving will bustle with last minute food shopping and, for many, preparing for an extended holiday weekend. There's a few activities around Carson City on Wednesday, Nov. 27 including a "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, art showings, classes and more.

Carson City area casinos saw October gaming revenue climb 8.27 percent and south shore Lake Tahoe 14.32 percent over the same time as last year, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Statewide, gaming revenue was down 3.85 percent.

With the season's first big winter storm expected to arrive later Tuesday evening into Thanksgiving, you can still get in activities around the capital city before the snow flies.
