The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department opened three new segments of trail following an Oct. 30 ribbon cutting. CARSON CITY — Nevada Department of Public Safety Director George Togliatti has appointed Anne Carpenter as Colonel of the Nevada DPS, Highway Patrol Division. Colonel Carpenter officially takes command of the Nevada Highway Patrol on Monday, October 19, 2020. She will oversee 491 sworn officers and 96 non-sworn personnel.

President Donald Trump predicted that Nevada’s battered tourism industry would “come roaring back” under his leadership, warning that the lights of Las Vegas and Reno would be extinguished under a Joe Biden presidency and that Carson City, where he rallied supporters Sunday evening, would turn into a ghost town.
