Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events and activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by. On Friday, Muscle Powered will host a morning walk at the Carson City Multi-Use Path at 8 a.m. And there's coin press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum.

Reno-Tahoe International expects 12 percent travel increase during July 4 holiday period

Reno-Tahoe International Airport expects an average of 15,000 passengers to arrive and depart daily, Wednesday through Sunday during the July 4 holiday peak period, a 12 percent year-over-year increase as officials say air service is "on the rise" at the airport.

Heading into today, there's the 2019 Great Race at Lampe Park in Gardnerville, an open house at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum in Carson City and the Brewery Arts Center will be packed once again Sunday for the Summer Showcase Band Concert from 5 to 7 p.m.

Carson Animal Services Initiative would like to thank everyone who joined us on May 18 for our annual Woofs, Wine and Whiskers wine tasting event. Once again people came together to help animals in need, and we are grateful!
CASI continues to assist the community through our Critter Fixer low-cost spay/neuter voucher program for low-income applicants.

Drug money allegedly motivated man accused of murdering Gardnerville women, Reno couple

A Washoe County detective says alleged murderer Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman told police he robbed and killed his elderly victims during a 10-day rampage in January because he needed money to buy methamphetamine to support his drug addiction, according to the Associated Press.

Murder suspect indicted by grand jury, prosecutors to seek death penalty in Gardnerville and Reno slayings

An indictment was filed late Wednesday against the man accused of killing two Gardnerville area women and a South Reno couple in January. Prosecutors said Thursday they intend to seek the death penalty.

Accused murderer Wilber Martinez-Guzman will be tried on four murder counts. He's been charged with the murders of Connie Koontz, 56, and Sophia Renken, 74, both of the Gardnerville area, and Gerald, 82, and Sharon David, 80, of South Reno. The murder spree happened within a 10 day period.
