MINDEN, Nev. — The Nevada COVID Task Force notified Douglas County that they are flagged for elevated COVID-19 disease transmission. Douglas County saw a spike in infection rates back in July, but then numbers declined for several months.

CARSON CITY — The State’s influenza (flu) vaccination data dashboard is now live providing weekly updates of information from Nevada WebIZ, Nevada’s Immunization Information System. This new tool will help Nevada’s fight against influenza, a critical step in the fight against COVID-19.

The Nevada COVID Task Force has notified Lyon County that they are to remain flagged for elevated COVID test positivity rates. October 12, 2020 Lyon County saw a test positivity of 8.2 percent and has experienced an increase week after week since then. As of Monday, Lyon County sits at a rate of 19.0 percent.

The Carson City Library is not one to shy away from innovation and integrating technology. The latest, are four self-check kiosks installed last week designed to allow for hands-free or limited touch operation to help to curb the number of touches taking place, especially as pandemic concerns continue and the focus remains on keeping the community safe.

The Salvation Army serving Carson City and Douglas County is seeking donations of Thanksgiving turkeys for families in need, and will be collecting them Friday at Max Casino in Carson City.

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is initiating a public comment period on the proposed Forest-Wide Prescribed Fire Restoration Project. The purpose of this project is to increase the pace and scale of prescribed burning on lands within 6.2 million acres of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada and a small portion of eastern California.

A network of churches, community members and local non-profits have been teaming up for half a decade in Carson City to provide warming shelters and a safe place to sleep for the transient population, and this year will continue despite COVID-19.

A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for suspicion of interference with reporting a crime, a felony offense, according to a sheriff's office booking report.
