Artist Eric Holland is featured at the Rinckel Mansion and will be present for a reception tonight. Grab your thinking cap and your smartest friends for Geeks Who Drink trivia at Westside Pour House. Vocalist Jakki Ford is the guest vocalist for the jazz jam at Living the Good Life.

Artsy Fartsy holds grand opening to celebrate expansion in downtown Carson City

When Jeffery Pace moved his Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery out of the tiny cottage on West Telegraph Street last month, he selected a space close by for a reason.

"We are expanding, not moving," Pace had said.

Artsy Fartsy expands to around corner on Nevada Street in downtown Carson City

After more than five years in the tiny cottage at 220 West Telegraph Street, Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery is now displaying its works in a new and much larger space right around the corner at 405 N. Nevada Street in downtown Carson City.

Mystique Restaurant and Lounge in downtown Carson City closes

Mystique Restaurant and Lounge, located at 318 N. Carson Street downtown, has closed permanently, owner Yvette Barrett said Tuesday.

The restaurant closed Saturday, Jan. 7, she said, and will not reopen.

A sign on the door at 108 W. Telegraph Street in downtown Carson City appeared the week before Thanksgiving, notifying customers that the Nevada Day Store was closed and would be reopening inside the Carson City Visitors Bureau (CCVB), located at 716 N. Carson Street.

75 years ago, the USS Nevada was one of the battleships trapped when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. She was the only battleship to get underway during the attack, and according to Naval historian Kermit (Kit) H. Bonner the ship was "the only bright spot in an otherwise dismal and depressing morning" for the United States. Today we remember those lost in that attack, and remember the history behind the battleship that is our battle born namesake. A special exhibit of USS Nevada artifacts, and a lecture on her history are free for all at the State Museum at 1 p.m.
