Carson City Mint 150th anniversary, fitness events, classic film showing and more Tuesday

Other activities include a morning and evening walk hosted by Muscle Powered, a dinner fundraiser for the Roman family at Pizza Factory, a community dinner and meeting invite to the Order of Eastern Star, a showing at the BAC of the 1941 film classic "The Lady Eve" and a concert featuring the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn at Shepherd-Sierra Lutheran Church. Visitors to the Nevada State Museum in Carson City this Tuesday, Feb. 4, will find themselves in history’s front row as the museum celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint. Just as it did 150 years earlier to the day, the Mint’s Coin Press No. 1 will be pressing silver coins, complete with the famous “CC” mint mark.

Events include the monthly downtown Carson City wine walk, plus karaoke at Bella Vita Bistro and Y-NOT Saloon. The Forest Service begins its first “Ski With a Ranger” at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday. Combined with championship football festivities on Sunday, the Silver State is in store for a wild, good time.

The State of the City address is a way community members can be kept up to date on everything going on in our capital city, including achievements, challenges, and everything in between.
Updates included achievements such as the completion of the water pipeline from Douglas County to Carson City, the Complete Streets Project, Tesla’s grant for the Carson City School District, the first new park opening in 12 years, the opening of the Disc Golf course, and more.

The Polar Express rolled into town on Nov. 15 with the help of the historic V&T Railway Commission, and with it, a certain jolly old man and his magical helpers.
