Dayton 5K Race Results Announced

Dayton’s first Healthy Communities Coalition 5K Walk/Run on May 14 attracted 50 contestants, plus 20 volunteers from Stand Tall and Dayton Task Force. The 5K fundraiser for Stand Tall’s youth leadership teams and Dayton Resource Bank resulted in $811 for the two local youth programs.

The event was a fun way for the community to exercise and to join together for two good causes. Organizers Lavurne Jeffreys and Star Erickson said they look forward to making this an annual event.

Mystery Dinner Theater continues at Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino

Murder Mystery Dinner Theater Proscenium Players, Inc. in conjunction with the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino in Carson City are about to unveil a mystery dinner show about an 80th birthday party attended by two feuding Irish families trying to get their hands on the Wild Irish Rose Whiskey recipe running weekends through Jan. 29. The performance is called "Eat, Drink & Be Murdered!"

Proscenium Players offer a menu of mystery this weekend

Proscenium Players rise again with a murder mystery on the menu starting Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. when cast members mingle with the audience to gather clues about the upcoming murder story "Eat, Drink and Be Merry." Some pre-show music will be offered by Sweet Vocal Renditions featuring Sweet Molly McGee. Irish fare dinner begins at 6:30 with the show starting at 7:15 p.m.

Prizes will be given to the firs three audience members who solve mystery.

NNDA Hosts Nevada Mining Association President

The Northern Nevada Development Authority will host Tim Crowley, Nevada Mining Association president at its Jan. 26 Breakfast Meeting.
Crowley will share insights on mining contributions to the state's gross domestic product - at around three percent - and explain how critically important the industry is to Nevada's economy.

Proscenium Players hold Carson City auditions for murder mystery

Proscenium Players, in conjunction with the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino in Carson City, will hold open auditions for the murder mystery "Eat, Drink and Be Murdered."

Auditions will be held at the Carson City Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino in the Juniper Room on Wednesday, Oct. 13th and Thursday, Oct. 14th from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Those auditioning will be asked to do cold readings and some improvisational acting.

Nugget Project discussed at NBC breakfast

Carson Nugget president Steve Neighbors was on hand to discuss some of the details of the Carson City Center aka Nugget Project at the Nevada Business Connections breakfast this morning at the Gold Dust West.

Latino culture on display at Carson City parade and festival

Formerly known as Salsa Y Salsas, the second Latino Cultural Fest began this morning with a parade down Carson Street and Highway 50 and continued on to Gold Dust West in Carson City. Click here to see more photos. Dozens of horses and cars were featured in the parade, as well as a traveling mariachi band, local politicians and lots of waving.

Latino Cultural Fest

Formerly known as Salsa Y Salsas, the second Latino Cultural Fest will be held this weekend at Gold Dust West in Carson City. A parade sets the stage on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. The route begins at the Carson City Sheriff's Office at 911 Musser Street and will run from Fifth Street to Carson to William and then onto Gold Dust West, 2171 Highway 50. The weekend festival runs Saturday, noon to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, noon to 7 p.m.

Nevada Business Connections monthly networking breakfast

The next Nevada Business Connections’ Monthly Networking Breakfast is scheduled for Wednesday, September 15 at the Gold Dust West casino in Carson City.

One of the topics of discussion will be the Carson Nugget Project, with Steve Neighbors and Mark Lewis. The second topic will be the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center with Len Gilman.

Doors open at 7:30 a.m. and breakfast starts at 8. Cost is $20 for members, $30 for guests.

Carson City man faces weapons charges after bringing knife to concert

A Carson City motorcycle gang member faces gross misdemeanor weapons charges after bringing a concealed knife into a concert attended by more than 200 people.
Dave Ernest Herrick, 46, faces charges of possession of a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. Bail was set at $5,000.
According to the arrest report, Gold Dust West security officers alerted Carson City deputies that there was a man with a concealed weapon attending a Saturday night concert.

Volunteers will be cleaning at the Carson City Freeway and US-50 East Interchange.
