The popular event will be open 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday, April 25th,and from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Admission is free to the public.

Carson City Harvest Club to receive grant to produce locally grown food for local families
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 10/08/2013 - 10:06amThe Carson City Harvest Hub, along with food production programs in Douglas and Lyon counties, have been awarded funding through the Nevada Department of Agriculture, officials announced Monday.
Grant awards amounting to $250,730 will go to 13 programs throughout Northern Nevada for crop research, education marketing and production.

Els will be defending his title at the 2013 British Open on the same weekend that Quinn, the former National Hockey League star, will be trying to repeat at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.
‘Grow Your Own, Nevada!’ classes return to cooperative extension offices

University of Nevada Cooperative Extension will help show residents how during eight “Grow Your Own, Nevada!” gardening classes featuring “back-to-basics” best practices for producing bountiful harvests. Classes will be presented Mondays, 2:30 – 4:30 p.m., July 8 – Aug. 26, live in Reno and video-conferenced to Extension offices throughout the state, including those in Carson City, Gardnerville, Fallon and Yerington.

Grace Works: The Church Has Left the Building!

It is an event that has been going on in several other communities across the US, involving thousands of people on a given Sunday. The First Presbyterian Church started it here in Carson City two years ago; last year Ministerios Una Puerta Al Camino ( The Church of the Door to the Way) joined them. Over 150 people participated.

Carson Chamber Home and Garden Show comes to Carson Mall on Saturday

Weather system to bring gusty winds Sunday, rain showers Monday
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 04/13/2013 - 6:40pmA cold front will move through the Sierra and Western Nevada beginning Sunday night bringing breezy conditions to Carson City and snow showers to Lake Tahoe through Monday, the National Weather Service in Reno reports.
There's a slight chance of rain showers Sunday night after 11 p.m. with a stronger possibility for rain showers Monday and Monday night. Snow levels with this cold system are expected to drop to 5,100 feet, according to the weather service.
Former South Lake Tahoe pot club owner sentenced to five years in federal prison
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 04/10/2013 - 2:45pmFormer City of Angels 2 pot club owner Gennaro "Gino" DiMatteo of South Lake Tahoe was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Kimberly J. Mueller.
DiMatteo had pled guilty to a felony for marijuana trafficking on Jan. 9. As part of his plea agreement, DiMatteo agreed to forfeit more than $40,000 to the United States.
Carson City Historical Society Garden Tour

This workshop will give guests a tutorial on building their very own Fairy Garden, in only a small patch of space of a container. This creation will be a great accessory to herb gardens or along side a row of plants, and is perfect for all ages.
The cost to attend the workshop is $6. Guests are welcome to bring their own containers or purchase one at the Greenhouse Garden Center, along with Fairy Garden accessories. Refreshments will be provided.

GCA dedicates a week each school year to serve agencies and organizations within the area. Local businesses, corporations as well as private donors pledge money donations to the school in the fundraising effort that has the added benefit of developing character within the students.

Thanking the students, Governor Sandoval said, “I had an opportunity last week to have lunch with former President George W. Bush at the Bellagio in Vegas. This lunch is every bit as good as what is offered at the Bellagio. This was very professional; the service was impeccable. You should be proud. You all have bright futures ahead of you.”
Silver Springs Elementary School Garden: Planting Seeds of Knowledge

In a unique partnership, Community Roots, a nonprofit part of The Healthy Communities Coalition, is partnering with SSES and SS Boys and Girls Club to develop and maintain the new garden this spring and summer.

Carson City Tree Walk
Submitted by editor on Fri, 04/29/2011 - 3:44amTom Henderson will conduct a walking tour of remarkable trees on Saturday, May 7, beginning at 10 a.m. at Bordewich-Bray School. This stroll along King Street will include several Nevada Champion trees, the largest of its species recorded in the state.
Mr Henderson will point out several distinctive trees proximate to King Street which he recommends for planting in our climate. This informative tour will pause at several trees to review their particular characteristics and to provide broader perspectives on the benefits of an urban forest.
