The Mile High Jazz Band Association presents a jazz-related drive-in movie, “High Society,” on Wednesday, August 19, and Thursday, August 20, as part of the 2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival.

It will be shown in the parking lot of the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street, in Carson City. Admission is free. Show time is available when calling for reservations, which are required for each vehicle and can be made by calling 775-883-4154.

Construction of Mountain Lakes Estates Retirement Community is nearly complete, and its first residents are expected to move in this fall, said Darryl Fisher, president of Mission Senior Living. The active lifestyle community for adults 55-years-old and better is located at 765 South Meadows Parkway, Reno. Construction began in the spring of 2019.

CARSON CITY — Reno artist Kate O’Hara need only to open her door and look to the mountains to find inspiration for her creations.

O’Hara’s exhibit, “Botanica Obscura,” can be seen for the next three weeks at the Nevada Arts Council’s Legislative eXhibition Series (LXS) inside the Nevada Legislative Building in Carson City. Throughout the 2019 Legislative session, the works of six Nevada artists is being featured. O’Hara is the second of the six artists and her display will remain in place through March 15.
