Carson Nugget Casino Hosts Live Entertainment in Outdoor Venue Beginning Saturday
Submitted by editor on Thu, 09/03/2015 - 4:56pmThe Carson Nugget in Carson City is kicking off a series of free outdoor concerts at the historic Laxalt Plaza adjacent to the Carson Nugget Casino beginning Saturday, Sept. 5, Labor Day Weekend. The first band in the series will be Mo’z Motley Blues Band who entertained during Taste of Downtown. They have a strong local following due to their versatility and infectious stage performance.

This American funk and rock, Caribbean calypso and reggae, and Brazilian samba drumming band mixes music from cultures around the world to come up with a unique sounds all its own. This blend of drums, guitars, horns, and electronic colors calls to mind the grooves of Parliament Funkadelic, the horns of Earth Wind and Fire, the diversity of Manu Chao, and the psychedelic improvisation of the Grateful Dead.

The annual Chili Cook-off and Craft Fair hits Glen Eagles this weekend, and there will be plenty to sample. If you need something cold to drink, head to 7-ELEVEN for a free small slushee from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. in celebration of Seven Eleven Day. The Farmers Market is always a good bet on Saturday mornings for sampling all the yummy stuff that grows nearby.

Giant guitar greets Lake Tahoe visitors at new Hard Rock casino in Stateline
Submitted by editor on Sun, 01/18/2015 - 3:30pmIt's not every day you see a 2,200 pound, 26-foot tall guitar being driven along Highway 50 from Sacramento into South Lake Tahoe. Nor does one normally see a huge crane lifting a metal guitar over 100 feet to be placed onto a base in front of a South Shore casino.
Douglas High Graduate Terrence Martin and his team, Todd Schulze and Courtney Cardenas, were busy installing the guitar last week. Many people were passing by, stopping to ask the metal artist questions and taking photos of what will soon be the talk of the town and the subject of many photos.
Nevada wildlife agency launches new outdoor podcast, radio program
