Art and Fire, in its’ tenth year of production by Controlled Burn, Nevada’s premier Fire Art Performance Troupe, returns to the Artown lineup of special events. Featuring Playa style entertainment in the form of Art Cars, Musicians, Unique Vendors, Work Shop for aspiring Fire Art Spinners, Aerialists, A Fire Art “Garden”, a Playa Wear Contest with cash prizes, Taiko Drummers, and a big Fire Art show at 7:30 PM on the RETRAC stage, just South of the Eldorado.

Dutch oven cooking demonstration at Mormon Station State Historic Park on Saturday, May 13

Join Park Rangers at Mormon Station State Historic Park for a Dutch oven cooking demonstration. Rangers will prepare a cast iron elk roast with sides, and samples will be served as long as the food lasts.

Participants will learn about the cooking techniques used by pioneers in the 1850s as they came through the Carson Valley on their way to California. Dutch oven cooking is a great way to bring the family together for a meal. It can be used in the backyard or out on camping trips.

Partnership allows free trail system cross-country skiing at Spooner Lake

It’s a ducky day to be a dog. The Nevada Humane Society’s annual Duck Race and Festival in downtown Reno raises funds for our area shelters and gives one lucky duck the chance to win a car.
