One thing you can count on, however, is the monthly Downtown Business Association’s wine walk; it’s a rain, shine, or blizzard event. Stay dry and well-fed with the Kiwanis annual BINGO Spaghetti Feed at the Carson Senior Center. The Brewery Arts Center hosts some pretty amazing vocalists for their newest fundraiser, ‘Evening with the Divas.’ Keep reading for even more Carson City, Carson Valley, and Dayton options.

Things to do on Thursday: Easter Eggstravaganza, a Timberline trek, and more

Head down to McFadden Plaza this afternoon for kids activities, an egg hunt, and a special showing of the classic movie ‘Easter Parade.’ The beautiful weather is just begging to be celebrated, so join up with Muscle Powered for a hike up to Timberline. Bring a camera, the views of the valley will be spectacular. Happy birthday to everyone that was born in March. The Carson Cigar Company holds their monthly Birthday Thursday celebration tonight with live music featuring the Trippin King Snakes. If you’re in Dayton, swing by 1st and 10 Sports Bar tonight.

Muscle Powered, our local hiking, biking, and trail-building group, leads guided hikes and walks a few times every week, including two on Tuesdays. Don’t let spring break be an excuse not to use your noggin. Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz at Sassafras and DJ Trivia at Fox Brewpub are both open to all ages and free to play. You’ve only got a few days to see the Winter Art Show in the Nevada Artist Association Gallery; their new show, ‘Spring has Sprung,’ will open Sunday.

If you’re looking for a way to entertain the kids, dollar days at our two bowling alleys make for a fun, yet inexpensive, outing. The Friends of the Carson City Library are hosting a week-long food drive. Bring your non-perishable donations to Browsers Corner Book Store and take a look around. You might find the perfect book for Spring Break.

You’ll find the start and finish line for Ascent Runs’ ‘Love Can Be Cold’ 5 or 10K at the Prison Hill Southern Trailhead. If you’d rather crawl than run, Virginia City’s ‘Devil Made Me Do It’ Saloon Crawl might be for you. Find something special for your special someone at Artsy Fartsy’s annual Champagne and Jewelry Show or at the Valentine’s Craft Fair inside the Carson Mall.

The kids of Youth Theater Carson City present a junior adaptation of the musical favorite this weekend and next. The Experimental Aircraft Association hosts ‘Young Eagle’ flights every few months at the Carson Airport to give kids 8 – 17 a plane ride to remember. Help out the Dayton Food Bank during their ‘Stuff-a-Cop-Car’ food drive at the Smith’s in Dayton; unexpired non-perishables of all kinds are appreciated. Read on and see what else the weekend brings.

The Ron Wood Center in Carson City donates 250 Christmas dinner baskets to local families

The baskets are being gifted to local foster families and the elderly, as well as to recipients recommended by Juvenile Probation and Safe School Professionals.

It’s an out-of-this-world Alien Santa at the annual Zen Christmas at A to Zen. A cookie-loving Santa can be found at Adele’s during their annual toy drive for the Ron Wood Resource Center. If your ‘kids’ are the four-legged kind, then head over to PetSmart or Paws to Pur-fection Dog Grooming for your holiday photos. In addition to the Santa-mania, you’ll find a downtown Carson Beer Crawl, two plays at the Brewery Arts Center, and plenty of music.
Stuff the Subaru canned food drive at Save-Mart benefits local Meals on Wheels program

"It's been great," said Courtney Warner, Executive Director of the Carson City Senior Center. "We've received more cash and groceries than expected for Meals on Wheels," she added.

Santa Claus is popping up all over, including at Benson Feed for the annual CASI Pet Photos with St. Nick and aboard the train at our Railroad Museum’s Santa Train. The musical ‘Honk, Jr’ for the young ones and Love/Sick for the older crowd are on the stage at the Brewery Arts Center. Spend the day at the Silver Saddle Ranch: their annual Holiday Open House is the perfect time to explore their trails and learn more about the working ranch’s preservation.

Start off with a trip to the Governor’s Mansion with something non-perishable for the annual Share Your Christmas Food Drive: you won’t even have to leave the warmth of your vehicle. Break a leg to Wild Horse Children’s Theater and to the Proscenium Players. Both troupes begin the run of their winter plays tonight at the Brewery Arts Center. It’s a Christmas Shopping Extravaganza at Fuji Park. You’ll find a plethora of vendors, crafters, and artisans waiting to help make your holiday shopping hassle-free.

Senator Square: Carson High School vs Douglas was a basketball rivalry with a purpose

The third annual Carson High School vs. Douglas High School Charity Basketball Game lit up CHS Wednesday, Nov. 15 and, as rivalry was put aside, it turned out to be the most successful basketball game fundraiser in CHS history with $10,000 raised for the seven students injured in the Nov. 9 vehicle accident on Kings Canyon Road.

The annual Holiday Craft Fair at Carson High features a plethora of handmade and locally crafted gifts for the loved ones on your shopping list. Take the plunge at the Carson Aquatic Center if you want to get a picture with Scuba Santa. Grab a coat, some friends, and your ID and head downtown for this month’s beer crawl. $15 gets you a glass and your first beer, from there you’ll pay only $1 for refills at several watering holes. This year the public, employees and customers filled the new Chevy pickup on the showroom floor with over 2,460 pounds of pet food.

Many amazing opportunities are going on in the CHS school library. The CHS Library is piloting the Nevada Teacher-Librarian Evaluation framework and transitioning from a “library” to a collaborative learning commons.

Carson City Feds Feed Families brings in 2,722 pounds of food for local pantries

All donations benefitted families and individuals served by the Ron Wood Family Resource Center and Friends In Service Helping, also known as FISH.

Celebrate this unofficial end-of-summer with a trip to the lake, a backyard bar-be-que, the parade in Virginia City, or one of the many fun events going on around town. Head over to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church for their annual Inter-faith Potluck Picnic and don’t forget to bring some silverware and something yummy to share.
