It is also International Walk to School Day, so be prepared to see a lot more school children walking with their parents and friends to school along sidewalks and crossing streets. Among other featured events include the launch of "Trailblazing Nevada,” a new museum experience inside Battle Born Hall at the Nevada State Capitol, a fundraiser at Firehouse Subs for a Carson City cancer patient, a GOP open house, a talk about climate change at WNC and more.

With Carson Creepy Short Horror Film Competition coming up we offer our yearly free filmmaking workshops at Paradise Salon Spa and Wellness. Short 20 minute workshops include Scary Make Up, Screen Writing, Special Effects, Lighting and more!

The next Wired Wednesday workshop will be Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Paradise Salons, 3430 Executive Pointe Way, Carson City.

Wired Wednesday is the group that brings you "Jukebox International Film Festival", "City Wide Short Film Competition" and "Tell Me That You Love Me" film competitions.

The annual Carson Creepy Short Horror Film Competition will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 12 p.m. and ends on Wednesday, Oct 24.

October in Northern Nevada means more than Nevada Day. There are also outhouse races, fall festivals and Oktoberfests; all three of which are happening this first weekend of October around the region.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — There will be a free event called “Remembering American Flat” this Saturday on the Comstock. The event includes three parts – a screening of a new documentary that covers the history of the American Flat mill from its inception in the 1920s to its demolition in 2014; a short lecture about the unique qualities of the mill by consulting architectural historian and industrial archaeologist Ron Reno, PhD; and a pop-up show with locals’ rare photos of the site.

As we head into our first full week of fall, sunny skies and a cool evening are on tap for this Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018. Among today's events are a morning walk and evening hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a chamber luncheon that focuses on Nevada Ballot Question 3 and the showing of the film "Westward the Women" by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

The Carson City Classic Cinema Club presents "Westward the Women" with special guest William Wellman Jr., the son of the film's director, William Wellman, on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the Brewery Arts Center.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Don’t worry, you’ve still got four months for your holiday shopping, but Santa needs to hire a few helpers. The annual Polar Express on the V & T is getting ready to steam up and they are auditioning for elves etc. to lend a hand. The Nevada Arts Council has a new exhibit featuring Basque artwork; attend this evening’s artist reception to learn more about these unusual carvings. The ESL at Home program works quietly behind the scenes to bring better English language skills to non-native speakers.

HopeFest 8, a fundraiser benefitting cancer patients of Northern Nevada, returned for its eighth year Friday night at the Carson Tahoe Cancer center, but before the fundraiser had even began employees of Carson Tahoe raised $30,000 in the few months leading up to the benefit.

As your reward for making it through the first school-week of the year, you’ll find plenty of fun ways to celebrate. Hopefest8 at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center is a free concert featuring folk/pop singer, Tyrone Wells, bringing awareness and raising funds for local patient resources. The grand prize of their raffle is a brand-new car, so good luck. It’s a birthday bash at Living the Good Life. Lights, camera, action! The Second annual Jukebox Film Festival begins today at the Carson City Community Center. Two full days of features, documentaries, and short films with music as the uniting theme will be shown at the Carson City Community Center: 30 unique titles representing 29 different filmmakers from countries around the world. Blood Drum Spirit, a jazz band with an African influence, is the focus of one of those films and will be performing for free at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint this evening.

HopeFest8, an annual Carson Tahoe Health Foundation summer music concert fundraiser in support of local cancer patients, returns this Friday, Aug. 24 to Carson City.

The Second annual Jukebox International Film Festival begins tomorrow with a two full days of music-centric documentaries, narratives, videos, and shorts.

Internationally traveling band Blood Drum Spirit visited Carson High School on Tuesday to jam with students in Brian Fox’s orchestra classes. But it wasn’t a technical lesson.

With less than a month until the doors open, Jukebox International Film Festival (JIFF), the only festival to feature films with music as a central driving theme, has announced that two bands appearing in two films screening at the festival will be appearing live in Carson City that week.

Wild Horse Children’s Theater has obtained the rights for the Northern Nevada premiere of Disney’s “Mary Poppins, Jr." Auditions will be held Thursday, August 23 and Saturday, August 25 for actors ages 5-18 at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

A 21-year-old woman was arrested early Thursday morning for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and other charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The Carson City Classic Cinema Club and friends want to celebrate the coming school year and help the kids get ready with a free Bash full of live entertainment, games and activities.
