Heading into the final weekend of October, Halloween and Nevada Day events will keep revelers busy through Sunday making for a jam packed weekend of fun for families and grownups around the Carson City region.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. The 2020 Jazz & Beyond Music and Art Festival will include the second annual Carson City Open Studios Tour with multiple locations. Hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club, the Brewery Arts Center is holding a drive-in movie showing of the 1950s classic “Shane” on Saturday. Combined with live music and plenty of dancing, it will be a weekend for all to enjoy! Read on for more information.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Public Safety will hold a one-day hiring event in Carson City on Saturday, August 22, 2020.

A Christmas gift of $2,500 was presented Tuesday to Carson City's Advocates to End Domestic Violence by Greater Nevada Credit Union. The donation is to help assist victims of domestic battery in the community.

The last Thursday of November means a big gobble gobble, Happy Thanksgiving to all. Enjoy in the games, festivities, activities at home and outdoors. Events are at a minimum, for obvious reasons, but the two big ones are traditions for us in the capital city. Chambered for Charity, an unincorporated non-profit, invites community members to sign up for the first Aim to Cure Sporting Clays Shoot on Sept. 21, 2019 at the Capitol City Gun Club in Carson City, Nev.

Chambered for Charity was formed by the women of two local Reno companies, Legacy Sports International and Reno Cerakote. Their mission is “to enhance the lives of others through charitable donations while promoting the safe, responsible use of firearms.”

Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. CARSON CITY — For the second consecutive year, the Nevada State Museum will celebrate Hawaiian culture with “Lei Day.”

Every year, Nevada Humane Society staff knows for certain one thing is going to be true: April showers bring May meowers.

This year, we expect more than years before!

In order to prepare, it’s time for the annual Kitten Shower, being held on Saturday, April 6, at Nevada Humane Society in Reno and Carson City.

The fun-filled event aims to educate people about orphaned kittens in shelters, provide gifts for kittens, and enhance the group of Foster Caregivers — the volunteers who offer temporary homes to underage kittens and puppies.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 6 p.m., Battle Born Progress will host its biennial Northern Nevada fundraising event, Celebrate Progress, in Carson City. The event recognizes the outstanding work of Northern Nevada’s progressive leaders, activists, volunteers, and organizations for their nonstop commitment to progressive values.

For six years now, the Carson City community has been helping to feed the hungry through Empty Bowls, an international project to combat hunger worldwide, with an annual fundraising event during the Christmas season.

CARSON CITY — Kids and teens ages 10-14 in Carson City will join more than 150,000 children across the country in leading the 11th annual 4-H National Youth Science Day challenge throughout the month of October. This year’s challenge, Code Your World, teaches young people computer science skills through four engaging hands-on activities.

Get a jump start on your holiday shopping on Saturday, Oct. 13 and help benefit programs that benefit the disabled. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Frost Yasmer Estates, 1009 East Fifth Street in Carson City.
