Nevada awarded $5 million to continue fight against opioid abuse
Submitted by editor on Thu, 04/27/2017 - 10:23amCARSON CITY — Governor Brian Sandoval announced Thursday that Nevada will receive a $5,663,328 grant to combat opioid addiction. The funding, which is the first of two rounds provided for the 21st Century Cures Act, will be provided through the State Targeted Response to the Opioid Crisis Grants administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

This story began a long time ago as a little six year old girl in northwest Ohio. Bonnie Zimmerman was in first grade with me and I loved her. She seemed vulnerable and in need of friendship support.

The moisture is a welcome help to our heroic firefighters in Lake Tahoe and Washoe Valley. Because of the wet weather and the recent fires, some activities have been postponed: most notably the Advocates to End Domestic Violence’s Annual Light After Dark Run. There are still plenty of things to occupy your time, but the weather may force more cancellations.

The only thing that is constant is change. Your estate plan may need to be adjusted for the changes. Just the passage of time will have changes in the tax law and some of the non-tax law changes by governments, regulations and court cases.

Silver Springs Success: Providers, volunteers to be honored Tuesday for weekend health care event
Submitted by editor on Mon, 09/26/2016 - 6:46pmThanks to Remote Area Medical, Inc., Healthy Communities Coalition and a cadre of volunteers, 323 people received an array of free health care services at a clinic conducted over the weekend at Silver Stage High School in Silver Springs. In doing this, and at just this clinic alone, more than $110,000 in services were provided, costs that otherwise would have to be picked up by either a state or county agency.

Passed in 2010 by a Democrat Congress without a single Republican vote, it promised to improve health care, cut costs and assure everyone is protected by insurance. Also, numerous times, unequivocally on the public record, Obama assured us: If you like your health insurance, you can keep it; if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.
None of those goals and assurances was realized. All failed.
