Carson City sheriff confirms pedestrian killed on North Carson Street; NHP says multiple vehicles involved

There was a fatal crash Wednesday morning involving a pedestrian near the intersection of North Carson Street and Medical Parkway, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies on Carson Street, dealing with pedestrian issues

Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies are on Carson Street this afternoon keeping pedestrians off of the roadway and out of the bike lane.

Motorists should use caution in the area or seek alternate routes.

Pedestrians are reminded they must stay out of the bike lanes and roadway unless using a designated crosswalk.

A Dayton man was arrested Monday for suspicion of attempted robbery that ended with the suspect giving himself up, a Carson City sheriff's arrest report states.

Carson City emergency crews respond to crash involving pedestrian at Hot Springs, Pine Lane

UPDATE 10:17PM: A 72-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured and flown to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno Monday night following a vehicle crash near a crosswalk at the intersection of Hot Springs Road and Pine Lane. Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Nate Brehm said the driver of the vehicle is cooperating and told officers she didn't see the man.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor, said Brehm. The victim was conscious and suffered injuries to his leg and hip. NHP is also involved in the accident investigation.

Carson City emergency crews called to vehicle vs. pedestrian crash at Long and North Carson

UPDATE 8:56PM: The 60-year-old male pedestrian in Tuesday evening's accident was flown to Renown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to CCSO. The driver of the vehicle that struck him was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected. NHP is investigating a separate incident, a hit and run crash, in which a vehicle struck a parked CCSO patrol vehicle and then fled the scene. The parked patrol vehicle was on the scene of the pedestrian crash.

Heading into Wednesday, Oct. 2 events lined up include Coffee with a Cop at Comma Coffee, Walk and Bike to School Day, a public meeting to discuss stormwater rates, art workshops and showings, a Bee City USA meeting at Greenhouse Garden Center, the first gathering of Women Seeking Safety classes at the Salvation Army, family story time at the library, presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren at the Carson City MAC, Salsa dancing and more.

Carson City, Douglas and Lyon counties to participate Oct. 2 in Walk to School Day

CARSON CITY — Many Nevada schoolchildren will take part in organized events to walk or bicycle to school on Oct. 2 in recognition of International Walk to School Day. Children not taking part in an organized school event are encouraged to involve their family in safely walking or bicycling to school on Oct. 2 and other days.

Saliman and Robinson: Is this Carson City's worst intersection?

The intersection at Robinson and Saliman is, for the majority of the day, reasonable and quick to get through. However, in the thirty minutes before Carson High School classes begin, and the thirty minutes after school lets out, it is one of the most frustrating intersections in the capital city.

There are nine lanes of traffic that have to navigate the four-way stop signs at this intersection, plus the hundreds of students using all four crosswalks.

On Thursday afternoon, ten minutes prior to school letting out at 2 p.m. and ending at 2:20 p.m., I observed the following:
