With gusty winds and low humidity in the forecast throughout the Carson City region, the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch in effect Monday and has extended its dense smoke advisory.

Continued shift in winds will bring more smoke from California wildfires back into western Nevada and the Lake Tahoe basin Thursday and Friday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Dense Smoke Advisory.

The National Weather Service has issued a blowing dust advisory effective until 11 a.m. Tuesday morning for Carson City, Carson Valley, southern Lyon County, Reno and northern Washoe County.

With the threat of thunderstorms creating new fire starts, a Red Flag Warning has been issued Sunday evening into Monday morning by the National Weather Service for Carson City, the Lake Tahoe Basin and throughout the entire Northern Nevada region.

Thick, unhealthy smoke from northern California fires continues to saturate outside air Thursday in Carson City, Carson Valley, Lyon County and throughout western and Northern Nevada, prompting the National Weather Service to extend a Dense Smoke Advisory into Friday morning.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Dense Smoke Advisory for the greater Reno, Carson City and Carson Valley areas including Sparks, Verdi, Gardnerville and Virginia City. The advisory is in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday. Visibility is below 3 miles with unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. The advisory says to expect periods of dense smoke and unhealthy air quality through Thursday morning. Winds may help improve air quality into Wednesday night before smoke returns to the area by early Thursday morning.

UPDATE 4:50PM: A Dense Smoke Advisory issued by the National Weather Service for the greater Reno, Sparks, Virginia City and Carson Valley areas has been extended until 9 a.m. Monday morning. As of late Sunday afternoon, drift smoke was evident in Washoe Valley, Carson City as well as into Silver Springs and Dayton.

The National Weather Service in Reno on Sunday issued a Dense Smoke Advisory for the valley areas of Reno into Carson City and Carson Valley due to the Loyalton Fire burning in the Tahoe National Forest in California.

Heading into the middle of the work week, Wednesday, May 22, there's no short supply of places to go and things to do around Carson City. In Jesus Name Medical Ministry is a group of local doctors, nurses and volunteer staff who run a mobile medical clinic. It’s a service for anyone with insufficient health care coverage and it’s free. We’ll have Family Practice, Pediatrics and multiple speciality doctors available. Kids welcome. No appointment necessary.

This month’s clinic will be Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at Calvary Chapel, 1635 Clearview Drive, Carson City. Check in is from 9 a.m. to noon. Anyone checking in after noon, unfortunately, cannot be seen.
