New principals named at Carson City's Bordewich Bray, Fremont Elementary schools

The Carson City School District has named two new principals for the 2017-2018 school year: Mrs. Lisa Hutchison as the new principal of Bordewich Bray Elementary School and Dr. Jennifer Ward-DeJoseph as the new principal of Fremont Elementary School. Each will be replacing Mrs. Karen Simms and Mrs. Casey Gilles respectively. Both Simms and Gilles will be retiring in June.

Carson High School CTE graphic arts student designs winning logo for Google G-Suite educator summit

CARSON CITY, Nev. – Carson High School Career and Technical Education graphic design student, Jose Conchas, submitted the winning logo design for the upcoming Google G-Suite Summit hosted by Carson City School District in mid-February. More than 125 educators, 60 from Carson City, will attend the summit to learn how to effectively implement Google apps in the classroom.

There are so many businesses — way too many to list — who have given time and time again to Carson City students from Kindergarten through grade 12, so that they might go on trips locally or across the country, usually having to do with academics or sports.

Carson High School celebrated its first Week of Respect Oct. 3-7. Students and staff participated in daily activities promoting positive interactions to support a safe and respectful learning environment. Be aware of the kids making their way to school, whether it be on foot, by bike, scooter, or skateboard. A walk along the Wellness Trail is a good way to break up the work week. Senator Square: Rivalry between Carson and Douglas spreads to school staffs

The staff of Carson High School and Douglas High School have agreed to a rivalry basketball game to be played Nov. 19 at DHS. The staff basketball game is a fundraiser for the Peace Officer’s Memorial Fund.
Multiple members of each of the school’s staff will be on hand to battle it out on the basketball court and continue the rivalry, but for a good cause. Come support the Senators or the Tigers and be sure to wear your favorite school’s colors.
