July 4 fireworks spectacular over Carson City light up the night

The event was filled with great music, lights and amazing eye-candy.

This jubilee celebrates all things that make the open road a call to the wild side, showcasing incredible hot rods, classic cars, and plenty of motorcycles. Activities feature live entertainment, a Show and Shine, raffles, expanded cruise parade, breakfast, awards, and plenty of dining, hydration and refreshment opportunities.

Doubleshot is a rock n' roll band that plays a blend of classic and contemporary rock. From early U.F.O. to 3 Doors Down and everything in between. The band formed in 2008 and has well over 50 years of combined experience playing all the local venues.

Those reasons include such assorted things as: Outstanding, memorable, good, not so good, questionable, bad, serious, funny, dumb, head-scratching, are-you-kidding, etc.
Those annual awards are presented to all kinds of people or places or things for what has occurred throughout the year. It’s a fun way to end the year for yours truly, so without further ado, here are my 2012 winners:

The Ultimate Wing Wars, a chicken wing cook-off event at the Best Western Carson Station Hotel Casino in Carson City, continues through Sunday.
This second annual event was organized by W.R. “Willie” Davison the self-proclaimed “Chicken Wing King.” The festival features the region’s best bars, restaurants and catering groups who are dishing up their sauced-up wings to the public and are fighting for bragging rights as to who has the best wings.

“Last year’s inaugural chicken wing cook-off event was a tremendous success with thousands in attendance,” said Jennifer Russell, Carson Station’s director of marketing. “This is year we’re upping the ante with more wings, more prizes, more music and more fun.”

Carson Station’s Ribmaster Rumble will be held in the parking lot of Carson

The concept is easy: the region’s best catering groups will compete side-by-side
to see whose ribs are the best on the tracks and who will earn the coveted title of

Outdoors with Don Q: Annual Invitational Fishing Derby at Topaz Lake

John is the Assistant General Manager for the Carson Station Hotel and Casino in Carson City, and this will be the 15th version of his annual, fun-filled, fishing event at Topaz Lake.
His derby is traditionally co-headquartered at the Topaz Lake Marina and the Topaz Lake Lodge at Topaz Lake, which lies along the Nevada-California state line about 40 miles south of Carson City.

Carson Station celebrates grand re-opening with wing cookoff

There were four types of beer on tap (at a dollar apiece it was easily the best deal in town) and all of them were ice cold. For another dollar, one could buy a "walking taco": a small bag of Doritos, crushed and covered with meat, cheese, onions, tomatoes, lettuce and salsa, eaten right out of the bag.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office was selected by the Nevada DARE Officer Association (NDOA) as an “Agency of Choice” and will host the Nevada State DARE Officer Conference May 2-5, 2011. DARE Officers representing law enforcement agencies from across the state will be participating in a variety of training activities that will enhance classroom skills, update DARE lessons, and to discuss current prevention issues.
